Job Description

The Application Solution Engineer (ASE) plays a crucial role within SGS’s IT team, acting as the technical authority for corporate IT applications. The ASE ensures that software development activities meet SGS standards and industry best practices, with a focus on quality, architecture, and security.

Responsibilities include providing accurate effort estimates, validating third-party estimates, and managing development workloads. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will ensure all internal and outsourced developments align with SGS and market standards, while closely collaborating with the Enterprise Architecture team to shape the evolving technical landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor, offering value-added Sitecore solutions to complex business challenges.
  • Guide impact assessments on change initiatives affecting current and future technology landscapes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and refine evolving requirements, ensuring enhancements align with architectural standards.
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of the technical roadmap, technology governance, architecture principles, design guidelines, and organizational standards.
  • Apply knowledge of SGS’s Enterprise Architecture and Security standards to ensure compliance with technical design quality and vulnerability standards.
  • Validate and enrich technical impact assessments to maintain high standards of quality and security.
  • Provide technical coordination for deployment activities, ensuring a smooth and compliant rollout.
  • Develop or validate technical designs for all application development activities.
  • Ensure all developments—whether custom or package-based—meet both technical and operational requirements (security, availability, maintainability, and performance).

Qualifications
  • Expertise in Sitecore Content Search with Solr. Knowledge of Coveo Search for Sitecore is a plus.
  • Experience with Sitecore Headless and Sitecore JavaScript Rendering SDK (JSS) for React.
  • Proficiency in Azure DevOps CI/CD Pipelines and Azure Cloud Architecture. Familiarity with Sitecore hosting with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) is a plus.
  • Strong experience with REST & WSL API integration.
  • Expertise in defining, controlling, and improving software lifecycle processes.
  • Deep understanding of risk management, quality assurance, security, privacy, and safety in software development.
  • Broad multi-technology knowledge with a focus on widely used technologies within SGS.
  • Familiarity with development methods and tools, particularly Agile, DevOps, and Lean methodologies.
  • Experience in system and software lifecycle engineering.
  • Strong programming and development skills.
