AIChE, founded in 1908, is a professional society of more than 60,000 chemical engineers in 110 countries. The RAPID Manufacturing Institute, part of the Manufacturing USA network, operates out of AIChE, in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE), as a collaborative technology ecosystem (development, scale-up, education) to enable the transformation of the process industries for a decarbonized, energy and capital efficient future further advancing U.S. manufacturing competitiveness

Position Summary
The Program Manager works as part of RAPID’s Technical Department to facilitate a wide range of technical activities within the RAPID Manufacturing Institute. The Project Manager is a key interface with the RAPID project teams and Department of Energy (DOE) technical and contracting functions. Specific duties include: project reviews, facilitating budget and work plan submissions, and communicating RAPID progress at public events/conferences.  This is a remote position with occasional requirements to visit the New York Office (under "normal" circumstances). Travel is estimated at 20%.

Responsibilities

The individual will manage RAPID projects, including, but not limited to:

  • Collaborate with RAPID Technical Team to analyze project metrics and contribution to Institute
  • Execute and close sub-award agreements in partnership with the RAPID Financial Team
  • Ensure compliance for all aspects of the project and defined parameters
  • Work with Technical and Financial Teams to successfully close sun-setting projects
  • Review the required technical and financial documentation
  • Ensure project milestones and financials are properly reported to Institute Leadership and the Department of Energy (DOE)
  • Strategize with senior-level RAPID technical team staff to assist with strategic program management
  • Ensures ongoing access for RAPID projects and safe operation
  • Participate in membership recruitment and member service activities
  • Drive cross-fertilization and ensure strong communications across the Institute and project teams

Requirements

Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with project economics, process development, process optimization, process intensification, process design and/or equipment design
  • Ability to successfully execute/manage multi-partner federally funded projects
  • Knowledge and experience with contracts, licensing agreements and intellectual property protection.
  • Expertise in environmental compliance and process safety
  • Track record for delivering results
  • Excellent emotional intelligence and communication skills (verbal and written)

Software Proficiency

  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • MS Teams, Smartsheets, and other project management software
  • Web conferencing (e.g., WebEx, Zoom) software
