Summary

An adjunct professor for the Department of Counselor Education & Family Studies will be responsible for the administration, facilitation, and teaching of classes of approx. 14-25 online students from around the country and international. This job entails daily internet interaction with students pursuing a graduate or doctoral degree in the fields of Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, and School Counseling.

Adjunct Professors will perform administrative tasks, interact with students through grading and interactive forums, and build relationships while under the supervision of Online Instructional Mentors.

Other Responsibilities Include

  • Teaching material from approved curriculum in accordance with assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction.
  • Assisting students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Providing regular and timely feedback to students.
  • Advising students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behaviors.
  • Motivating students to actively participate in all aspect of the educational process.
  • Maintaining and reporting student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in counseling or related field.
  • Professional or clinical counseling experience
  • Candidates will demonstrate knowledge of their field and application of current counseling practices.
  • Previous experience with online learning management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of faith integration and biblical concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Counseling licensure/certification such as NCC, LPC, or LMFT
  • Doctoral degree in counselor education and supervision or related field from a CACREP accredited program.
  • Candidates should have experience teaching in higher education with preference given to those who have taught in the online environment.
  • A strong professional identity demonstrated through advanced credentialing, certifications, presentations, publications, and service to the profession.
  • Experience working with the Canvas learning management system.
