About The Opportunity
Ellucian's FinOps team within our cloud division is seeking to hire a Senior FinOps Engineer. Our cloud solutions are central to driving this transformation for colleges and universities worldwide. The FinOps team supports the development and sustainability of Ellucian’s cloud solutions through well-defined governance and controls that foster organizational accountability via cross-functional collaboration, visibility, and shared responsibility of resources and costs. The team measures success by achieving predictable and scalable costs, leveraging the business drivers of cloud and the variable cost models of cloud deployments to ensure maximum value from our cloud investments.
Where You Will Make an Impact
As a Senior FinOps Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing Ellucian's cloud financial performance by:
Developing and implementing cost optimization strategies aligned with business objectives.
Creating dashboards and reports for tracking cloud cost usage and optimization.
Partnering with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders (cloud engineering, DevOps, finance, product, R&D, sales) to lead and support FinOps projects and initiatives, enhancing visibility, accountability, and governance of cloud spend.
Practicing, maintaining, and contributing to Ellucian's FinOps processes and governance framework.
Developing and implementing cloud cost budgeting and forecasting processes.
Driving the implementation and improvement of various FinOps domains, including cloud usage and cost, performance tracking and benchmarking, decision making, rate optimization, usage optimization, and organizational alignment.
Developing, implementing, and utilizing cloud cost management and analytics tools to support operational and project requirements.
What You Will Bring
5+ years of experience in FinOps (cloud cost management), cloud engineering, or DevOps.
Experience with cloud cost reduction and usage optimization strategies, such as right-sizing, reserved instances, savings plans, and anomaly detection.
Proficiency with cloud cost tracking, reporting, and analytics tools, such as Cost Explorer, Cloudability, CloudFix, or AWS CUDOS.
Familiarity with cloud cost governance frameworks, such as the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
Experience with cloud cost budgeting and forecasting tools, such as AWS Budgets and Forecast.
Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully.
Self-motivated to continually identify and solve new challenges and opportunities.
Preferred:
AWS Cloud Certification.
FinOps Foundation Certified Practitioner.
Experience with scripting and reporting within AWS.
