As the preeminent international service organization of the United States, the Peace Corps sends Americans with a passion for service abroad to work with communities and create lasting change. Volunteers develop sustainable solutions to address challenges in Education, Health, Economic Development, Agriculture, Environment and Youth Development. Through their Peace Corps experiences, Volunteers gain a unique cultural understanding and a lifelong commitment to service that positions them to succeed in today's global economy. Since President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps in 1961, more than 240,000 Americans of all ages have served in 142 countries worldwide.
My Refuge House Ministry, Inc. (MRH) in the Philippines has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Youth Program Research Specialist. MRH) has been a committed and dedicated provider of aftercare services to survivors of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC), Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC), and sexual abuse in Cebu for nearly 16 years. Over this time, MRH has expanded its programs beyond residential care, branching into community prevention efforts, family development and intervention, and alumni and reintegration support. MRH has identified a critical need for a comprehensive program assessment in understanding the effectiveness of MRH's initiatives after more than a decade of service to the children survivors and their families.
The PCRV will work closely with MRH’s Director of Program Operations and other key staff members to spearhead a comprehensive program assessment on the effectiveness of its different initiatives in providing aftercare services to survivors of CSEC, OSEC, and sexual abuse, including their families. The PCRV will also design a comprehensive research framework, conducting interviews with direct program beneficiaries, staff members, and stakeholders, and mentoring key personnel on research design and data gathering techniques. The aim is to generate comprehensive and credible data that can substantiate the effectiveness and efficiency of MRH's programs, thus enhancing its ability to secure continued support and resources from its donors and stakeholders for its mission.
Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in the Philippines together as a group, so while the departure dates for the whole group could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.
