Position Overview
Under the direction of the Executive Director, Global Digital Underwriting, provides consultation and subject matter expertise to support digital underwriting initiatives in the Americas, including:
- Providing client facing and internal consultation on digital underwriting best practices for the Life & Health insurance industry, including expert knowledge in the use of 3 rd party/alternative evidences to accelerate underwriting
- Participating in research & development initiatives to expand or advance technology for digital underwriting capabilities
- Providing digital underwriting consultation to RGA’s clients and regional offices for their digital underwriting needs, including designing, maintaining and enhancing underwriting rulesets for multiple evidence sources to align with RGA’s Underwriting philosophy
Responsibilities
- Serve as a resource for Aura Next implementations in the US and support for research and development of new digital underwriting capabilities
- Collaborate with underwriting, technology and data science teams to expand scoring systems to include alternative data multi-variate and co-morbid attributes, as needed.
- Perform or participate in client studies as needed to gain feedback, monitor success and identify and implement needed changes or enhancements
- Develop and continually refine RGA’s master rulesets using underwriting expertise
- Work closely with digital underwriting project & product (teams), providing underwriting direction and working to ensure that the underwriting approach works as designed and is in line with RGA’s underwriting philosophy.
- Assist in designing, documenting and tracking multiple versions of automated underwriting rules
- Provide guidance and consultation to clients and colleagues regarding the rules development process and RGA’s underwriting philosophy and approach.
- Work closely with regional offices to collaborate on innovative growth leveraging digital underwriting capabilities to ensure that team goals are met
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 7 to 10 years of experience in life & health insurance/reinsurance in the US market
- Experience providing consultative services and software implementation for digital underwriting solutions
Preferred:
- Experience developing and implementing rules for an underwriting engine, including straight through processing optimization
- Experience using evidences including LabPiq, Medical Claims Data, RX Checks, Electronic Health Records for making underwriting decisions
- ACS, ALU, FLMI, FALU or CLU accreditation or progress towards accreditation
- 10+ years of experience direct underwriting experience with mortality and morbidity products

- Advanced oral and written communication skills including presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey information in a way that is meaningful and well received by stakeholders and team members
- Highly advanced ability to adapt new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
- Expert skills in managing multiple projects and/or sub-teams simultaneously
- Advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines
- Advanced ability to comprehend, analyze and apply vast amounts of medical and financial information quickly to making sound financial underwriting and risk assessments.
- Advanced knowledge of insurance principles, underwriting policies and procedures and guidelines for dealing with risk analysis.
- Ability to work online, either at home or remote
- Occasional travel required, 10% or less
- Proficiency in basic Microsoft Excel use, creating and formatting spreadsheets, simple data entry, and sorting or filtering data
- Proficiency in basic Microsoft Powerpoint use, creating and editing presentations

The general pay range for this position is$101,685 - $151,435 per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles, and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
