Freelance Copy Editors Needed for Academic Manuscripts

We are seeking skilled Freelance Copy Editors to review and refine academic texts, enhancing clarity, consistency, and overall quality. The role involves correcting grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors, checking for factual accuracy and in-text citations and reference lists, and ensuring adherence to specific style guides.

Responsibilities Include:

• Correcting grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors.
  
• Ensuring consistency in style, tone, and formatting across the text.
  
• Verifying facts, figures, and references for accuracy.
  
• Enhancing sentence structure, word choice, and flow.
  
• Ensuring adherence to style guides such as APA, MLA, or Chicago.
  
• Collaborating with authors to address ambiguities or inconsistencies.

• Collected Works (+/-110 000 words)
  
• Monographs (+/-110 000 words)
  
• Journal Articles (+/- 8000 words)
  

Types of Copy Editing Services Needed:

1. Light Copy Editing: Focuses on correcting basic grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors.
   
2. Medium Copy Editing: Includes light editing tasks while improving sentence structure, word choice, and text flow.
   
3. Proofreading: The final review before publication, focusing on catching any remaining errors.
   

Ideal Candidates:

We are looking for editors with a keen eye for detail, strong language skills, and a solid understanding of academic writing and style guides. Experience in academic editing and expertise in one or more of the required languages are essential.

Skills Test:

As part of the selection process, shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a skills test to demonstrate their proficiency in editing and familiarity with style guides.
