Your role
As a DevOps Engineer at Zurich, you will play a crucial role in shaping our DevOps practices and infrastructure. You will lead the design, implementation, and support of advanced DevOps solutions, ensuring they align with our strategic goals and meet both functional and non-functional requirements. You will work closely with key stakeholders to drive innovation and efficiency across our global IT projects.
Responsibilities
As a DevOps Engineer your main responsibilities will involve
- Lead the design, implementation, and support of DevOps solutions, ensuring compliance with Zurich's strategic goals and standards.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and understand Cloud and CI/CD requirements.
- Develop and present technical proposals to address complex business and IT challenges.
- Lead strategic project-planning meetings, providing expert guidance on system options, risks, impacts, and cost-benefit analysis.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of best practices and emerging trends in Cloud, CI/CD, and DevOps.
- Contribute to the development of the global solution strategy, innovation areas, and technology roadmap.
- Provide advanced support for incidents and problems, including profiling and troubleshooting existing solutions.
- Author comprehensive technical documentation and implement solution definitions, patterns, and templates on the platform.
Skills
Your Skills and Experience
As a DevOps Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering, including application development, cloud, and DevOps engineering.
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing DevOps pipelines, release management, deployment automation, and version control tools.
- Extensive knowledge of software development and testing methodologies, change and configuration management practices across multiple environments.
- Advanced understanding of Cloud services, Kubernetes, networking, databases, middleware, web services, and related standards.
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences; strong leadership and collaborative skills.
- Proactive problem solver with a positive attitude and strong communication (English verbal and written) & interpersonal skills.
- Deep understanding of DevOps and Agile methodologies and concepts.
Technical Skills
- Extensive experience with automated deployment, continuous integration, and release engineering tools – Ansible, Bamboo, Jenkins, Maven, Ant, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of Containerization (Docker) and Container Orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Proficiency with Cloud Services (AWS and Azure) including specific services like EC2, S3, Lambda, Azure VMs, and Azure Functions.
- Experience with Terraform and CloudFormation.
- In-depth experience with security protocols and practices (SSO, OAuth2, OpenID, certificates).
- Good understanding of networking concepts and technologies.
- Strong familiarity with GIT and other version control systems for software configuration management and Source Code Management.
- Proficiency in programming languages (like .net, Java, Python, YAML, SQL).
- Strong scripting skills (PowerShell Script, Groovy, JavaScript, Bash, Python, XML, HTML, JSON, YAML).
- Excellent Linux skills and experience with multiple OS (CentOS, RedHat Enterprise Linux, Windows Server).
- Nice to have: Atlassian tools, Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise administration, AWS/Azure certifications, Helm, ArgoCD, experience with CaaS (AKS, AWS ECS/EKS, OpenShift), REST APIs development.
