Job description

About the Retention Strategist Position

We're looking for a proven retention marketer to lead the strategy and execution of email/SMS marketing to help our clients grow.

Leading a team consisting of a designer and Klaviyo specialist, the Retention Strategist will be tasked with leading a retention pod and will report to our Head of Retention. The primary objective of the position is to sustainably grow channel traffic and revenue by outlining/implementing strategy, managing client relationships / reporting, and leveraging email/SMS to improve customer experience and LTGP (lifetime gross profit) for our clients.

We are specifically looking for candidates who are ready to lead a team in a competitive, high-performance environment with limited oversight - given the leanness and growth at our agency, we will be more akin to collaborators than managers of your team.

Retention Strategist Responsibilities
  • Lead communication and manage client relationships, establishing campaign & flow calendars that are built around business goals
  • Write winning copy and tee up designers for success by staying on top of trends and balancing 'brand' with high-converting visuals
  • Alongside your team's Klaviyo specialist, build and deploy campaigns in Klaviyo
  • Analyze client results and execute reporting that's meaningful (no jargon) - actionable, real (nuanced), and provides the client with context to understand where they are and how they can move towards where they want to go
  • Meet and exceed KPIs, both internal and with client account performance
  • Collaborate closely with in-house or external partners across organic social, paid social, google, web, etc. to maximize growth
  • Highly responsive to clients

Qualifications

  • Preference of a year of experience at an email marketing agency
  • At least two years of experience in email marketing
  • A minimum of one year of experience in managing email and SMS accounts while offering strategic guidance
  • Hands-on experience with Klaviyo (Postscript / Attentive etc. is a bonus)
  • Experience setting up flows, campaigns, popups and segmenting email and SMS lists
  • Experience in managing client relationships and fostering strong partnerships.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset, meticulous attention to detail, and impeccable execution on behalf of clients
  • Strategic thinker
  • Execute the mundane tasks extremely well - day in, and day out
