What You’ll Do
The Sales & Marketing Development Program (SMDP) offers a structured start to your personal career path at Stanley Black & Decker. Over the course of your tenure in SMDP, you will develop competencies in sales and marketing through a variety of experiences focused on brand, product, channel and sales. SMDP immerses you in the world of our end-users, customers, and business partners. You will develop a broad scope of product knowledge, sales skills, and other experiences through a customized career progression.
In your role as a Sales Coordinator, you will manage a territory of Home Depot or Lowes accounts. Through the Management by Objectives (MBO) Process you will be responsible for several core objectives:
- Driving Top Line Sales to deliver your quarterly and annual POS Goals
- Partnering with Store and District Managers to understand and align our strategies with their retail specific goals
- Influencing the Key Decisions Makers (KDM) on store level placement of national promotions
- Selling In and executing the national event activations to drive sales and gain market share, as well as developing and driving local territory activations
- Implementing the national overdrive strategies to promote product sell-through and identifying key territory specific opportunities, execute and measure performance
- Engaging the Store and District Key Decision Makers to provide business updates on key initiatives and developing, selling in and implementing customized specific initiatives
- Partnering with retail service partners which will require active store and district level engagement inclusive of monthly district meetings and quality walks to assess servicing accountability and drive corrective actions
- Actively engaging with Professional End Users store side to develop leads to drive sales
- Leveraging sales enablement tools to analyze store and promotional performance and develop plans to close sales gaps
- Driving effective inventory management with our retail partners and developing exit strategies for Special Buy promotions
This is an active, hands-on position requiring candidates to operate in a dynamic environment that pivots from Key Decision Maker store level presentations to recognizing sales and service opportunities to training and educating Associates to Drive End User Sales to deliver top line sales goals.
Following success in the first role you’ll have the opportunity to advance into within the organization such as management, sales, and marketing. As a member of SMDP you’ll be supported through the promotion process.
While in SMDP, you’ll participate in a two-phase blended training curriculum, providing you with extensive knowledge and understanding of our products and industry. Following the program, you will have the opportunity to grow your career and professional network in a variety of roles within metropolitan cities across the United States.
We're looking for an individual who is self-motivated, goal-oriented, can thrive both independently and in a team-based environment. We're also looking for someone who is persuasive in the use of selling skills, a solutions provider and good communicator. Additionally, you will need to be able to build and maintain positive customer relationships and work with diverse personalities.
More About Your Role
A typical day will consist of visiting two stores. While in store you’ll focus on driving top line sales through strategic initiative planning and direct selling to customers in the aisles, building relationships with key store personnel, managing accountability with the Retail Service Team to ensure servicing standards, providing occasional supplemental merchandising support to accomplish top line sales, planning and execution of events throughout the year.
Minimum Requirements
- Early career experience (3 years or less)
- Must be willing to travel regionally, work occasional weekends (8-10 annually)
- Pass MVR check
- Valid driver’s license
- Pass all drug and criminal background checks
- Physical labor will be required in the handling, training, and demonstration of our products, including the ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel computer skills).
