The Senior Actuarial Associate, FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) assists the analysis of financial results, the annual financial planning process, and the measurement and maintenance of key financial metrics. This position supports the financial performance management and the profitability monitoring. The incumbent is responsible for providing actionable information that enables good business decisions along with designing and managing project initiatives and business processes within the Individual FP&A team.

This role could be hybrid or remote based on proximity to an office location.

What you do

  • Performs static and dynamic validation and analysis of actuarial models for financial plan projection; and ensures accuracy of the projections and compliance with the departmental applications of that particular model.
  • Compiles and analyzes data using statistical formulas and other actuarial methods.
  • Assists regular and ad hoc management reporting that focuses on results and metrics for Individual Division financial planning and analysis (e.g., Life and Annuity business).
  • Contributes to the annual planning process for Individual Division (e.g., Life and Annuity business).
  • Utilizes comprehensive technology solutions to drive automation and process improvement.
  • Assists in developing and implementing procedures to comply with new regulatory control or governance requirements.
  • Responds to requests for information from actuaries, accountants, auditors, management, and other associates including external stakeholders; provides actuarial analysis where appropriate.
  • Other duties assigned.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; Degree in Actuarial Science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of related experience required
  • Near or new ASA certification. Continued progression on actuarial exams in accordance with The Ameritas Actuarial Student Program required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office package required (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Experience with data management (e.g., SQL, Data Lake) and actuarial modeling software (e.g., Prophet) strongly preferred
  • Strong drive and willingness to learn new business knowledge and new processes, as well as improving the applicable existing processes
  • Effective collaboration skills with team members and the applicable business partners
  • Effective competency and flexibility to work well at fast pace during the peak seasons for annual financial plan and quarterly financial analysis
