Job description

Energy from offshore wind farms in the European powerhouse North Sea will play a crucial role. It guarantees that this energy will reach the mainland - and in the most environmentally friendly way possible. That is why they have developed the 2GW program with a unique transnational approach. And thus increase the pace and efficiency of the energy transition.

The Business Technology Organisation (BTO) supports the optimal continuity of business processes. The unit you will be working for is Digital and Data. Together with the business they develop Data Products using Scrum and DevOps. The information needed for these products is obtained from various data sources.

You can expect this:

Within their pillar, they aim towards making it more data-driven. One aspect of this is to facilitate central storage of data to make it more accessible and to enable business processes. To this end, they are building the Data Platform (TDP) using Cloudera and in the near future also Azure. This platform allows the stakeholders to analyze data, and run (machine learning) models and provides us with ample opportunities to build use cases. The data engineers are responsible for streamlining the data flows on TDP by building high-end ingestions, cleaning and parsing applications, APIs, and dashboards.

We are hiring for a hands-on role where you will need to have working knowledge of Data tools, like Python, Kubernetes, Docker, Airflow, and other tools and you are willing to learn new tools.

The main activities of the All-round Data Engineer are:

  • Gathering and clarifying requirements from the business in collaboration with the Product Owner;
  • Making functional and technical designs in collaboration with Solution Architects and your colleagues;
  • Building ingestions, cleaning, parsing, modeling, and dashboarding applications;
  • Exposing and analyzing data;
  • Converting raw data from various sources into applicable solutions;
  • Writing and maintaining program and system documentation;
  • Day-to-day management and monitoring of the data products.

As part of a Scrum Team, together with your team members you will provide and/or support the delivery of reliable data products to all the (internal) customers. Led by the Product Owner, you analyze customer demand and develop user stories and develop new Data Products. Together with the team, you translate the requirements into custom, but where possible reusable, solutions.

The products and services they deliver enable the customers to become data-driven and improve their business processes. You enjoy working with customers and other IT teams to turn data into value for the customer.

By giving your team members feedback, you also make them "a little better every day". You participate in team / Scrum meetings and share your knowledge and insights where necessary. You inspect and adapt your own work and that of others, your research and analysis issues, often in collaboration with the internal customers, and you provide suitable solutions that they use every day. Above all, you understand that acquiring knowledge about the strategic processes and the data within these processes is their basis for success.

You and your Profile:

  • You have at least 5 years of relevant work experience and at least a completed HBO education;
  • You are a team player, result-oriented, and have good analytical skills;
  • You are proactive, flexible, and motivated to bring the best solutions to the stakeholders;

You are proficient in:

  • Python (senior level);
  • Docker;
  • Kubernetes;
  • Jenkins + ArgoCD (CICD tooling);
  • Requirement gathering and analysis;
  • (Relational) databases (Impala, Postgres, Oracle);
  • Git;

It is an advantage if you have experience with:

  • Data visualization techniques (Tibco Spotfire, PowerBI);
  • Azure;
  • Kafka;
  • Object storage;
  • Security in Data ETL;
  • Scrum + DevOps.
