Overview:

WILK Newsradio-Northeast Pa’s #1 Newstalk Station- Audacy Wilkes Barre/Scranton, is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic newstalk host who is familiar with the Northeast Pa. region and the issues that affect our community. You must have broadcast experience and be able to discuss breaking news stories, as well as identify the compelling topics that will engage listeners. This is a multi-media position, where you will incorporate an on-air radio program with social media, video, web and audio elements

Responsibilities:

What You'll Do:

  • Create original content and performing live broadcasts that are entertaining and informative.
  • Participate and create original content for all social media platforms; managing online personality presence
  • Protect the station’s FCC license
  • Monitor the music and commercial logs for the airshift
  • Ensure that promotions and contests are executed properly
  • Operate the control board and perform production work
  • Make personal appearances at station events and remote broadcasts
  • Other duties as required by management

  • Ability to engage in intelligent debate with callers and guests on local, state and national topics.
  • Enthusiastic team-player
  • Excellent storyteller with a sense of humor
  • Social media experience
  • Knowledge of local history
  • Extensive knowledge on a variety of topics, including news, politics, lifestyle and general sports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Audio editing experience necessary
  • A valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check, and, if the position requires use of applicant’s own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Majority of work day will be spent sitting at broadcast board, speaking into a microphone and manipulating board controls.
