Senior Director of Operations

Role Summary

The Senior Director of Operations (National Program Rollout - NPR) is responsible for the overall performance and strategic execution of the NPR Operational Team. This leader oversees the Director of Project Management and the Director of Field Operations to ensure high-quality project delivery and customer satisfaction. The Senior Director serves as a key bridge between Business Development and operations, ensuring major accounts are executed according to design specifications and financial goals.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)
  • Direct Reports: Director of Project Management, Director of Field Operations
  • Key Collaborators: VP of Business Development, VP of NPR

Key Responsibilities

Financial & Strategic Performance

  • Partner with the VP of NPR to establish and communicate weekly/monthly revenue and EBIT (Earnings Before Interest and Taxes) targets to the project and field teams.
  • Monitor operational performance to ensure the team consistently meets or exceeds financial goals.
  • Assist in new customer acquisition through industry networking and relationship building.

Operational Oversight

  • Provide high-level supervision of the Project Management and Field Operations teams, ensuring alignment on customer objectives and labor utilization.
  • Oversee all internal and subcontractor communications to promote a culture of constructive, clear, and objective-driven collaboration.
  • Manage labor and material vendor relationships specifically pertaining to national accounts, working closely with the Vendor Manager.
  • Review and manage team schedules and vacations to ensure consistent coverage for all active programs.

Project Quality & Design

  • Consult with Sales, BD, and Design teams during the audit phase to ensure customer expectations and SOPs are technically feasible and followed.
  • Hold final decision-making authority on installation design specifications and SOPs to ensure field teams deliver exactly what was promised to the client.
  • Review delivery timelines, progress reports (via Google trackers), and internal labor performance to ensure projects stay on schedule.

Communication & Leadership

  • Participate in customer calls to represent operations and ensure client expectations are being met.
  • Lead bi-weekly strategy meetings with the VP of NPR to provide operational insights and performance updates.
  • Facilitate weekly program calls; ensure all meetings begin with objective reviews and end with clear action items/task assignments.
  • Identify performance gaps and develop corrective initiatives to bring the team back in line with customer SOPs or KPIs.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Technical Expertise: General knowledge of lighting and Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) as they relate to national rollout programs.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to motivate large teams, manage high-level directors, and drive collective success.
  • Systems Proficiency: High proficiency in Google Suite (Sheets/Meet), Microsoft Excel, and specialized tools like ArcSite and Snapcount.
  • Financial Literacy: Solid understanding of office management processes, financial principles, and EBIT tracking.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of maintaining a high level of integrity and discretion.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical knowledge and extensive leadership experience in energy/renewables preferred.

Requirements

  • Up to 30% travel required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to meet performance-based KPIs (to be determined based on EBIT and team performance).
