With hundreds of agency partners around the world, Via is recognized as the leading transportation technology and service provider globally.

As a Payroll Accountant for Via Germany, you will own the end-to-end payroll process for more than 900 hourly employees across the region, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a seamless payroll experience. Working closely with our Finance, People, and Operations teams around the world, you’ll collaborate across functions to keep one of the most critical parts of our business running smoothly. In this role, you’ll help strengthen and improve payroll processes as Via continues to grow across Europe, ensuring our teams are supported with reliable and timely compensation every month.

We are open to remote candidates, as long as you are willing to travel to Berlin once a month.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and drive the monthly payroll process for Via Germany, partnering closely with our external payroll provider and internal Finance, People, and Operations teams to ensure timely, accurate payroll execution.
  • Monitor and interpret German tax regulations, wage laws, and compliance requirements, ensuring payroll processes remain aligned with evolving regulatory standards.
  • Perform regular payroll audits to maintain the accuracy and integrity of employee pay data, while designing and implementing process improvements and internal controls.
  • Manage benefit deductions and tax withholdings, ensuring calculations and reporting are precise, compliant, and handled with the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Lead payroll-related financial reporting, including preparing journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts.
  • Support on escalated employee payroll queries that cannot be resolved independently by the Support Operations team.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and operational improvements that strengthen payroll processes and support the broader Finance team.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of payroll experience in Germany, with a strong understanding of local payroll regulations and tax requirements.
  • Comfortable working with HRIS and payroll systems such as P&I Loga, and highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Detail-oriented and highly accurate, with the ability to manage payroll tasks independently and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong communicator who can collaborate effectively with colleagues across Finance, People, and other internal teams.
  • Process-driven and proactive, with a passion for improving workflows and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Fluency in English required, German is a plus.

What We Offer:

  • Becoming part of a company that was awarded for its commitment to social good.
  • Salary range: between €70,000-€90,000 per year, plus equity. Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills.
  • A lovely office situated in the heart of Berlin, at Chausseestraße.
  • Weekly team lunch and breakfast.
  • Urban Sports Club membership.
  • Company pension scheme (bAV) with a 20% employer contribution.
  • 30 vacation days a year.

There has never been a more exciting time to be on the cutting edge of public mobility. Ready to join the ride?
