What You’ll Be Doing
Circana is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting to join our team. This critical role ensures the company’s revenue reporting is fully compliant with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and supports broader Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance efforts. You’ll work closely with the Global Controllership team, Financial Reporting, FP&A, Internal Audit, and HR to drive a timely and accurate monthly close while maintaining a strong internal control environment.

The ideal candidate is a CPA with 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a blend of public accounting and public company roles. Big 4 experience at the manager or senior manager level is highly preferred. A deep understanding of ASC 606, revenue operations, internal controls, and process improvement is essential. You should be comfortable leading through change, driving performance, and influencing cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

Depending on experience, this role may include people leadership responsibilities or remain focused as a senior individual contributor and subject matter expert.

This is a remote-eligible role, though we strongly prefer candidates based in the Chicago area due to team proximity and long-term leadership opportunities.

Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end revenue and accounts receivable accounting, including the monthly close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and GAAP compliance
• Lead technical accounting reviews related to ASC 606 and refine revenue recognition policies
• Design and implement SOX-compliant controls related to revenue accounting
• Improve processes across the full order-to-cash cycle, including AR, deferred revenue, and AR allowances
• Review and interpret complex customer contracts to ensure proper accounting treatment
• Drive automation efforts to increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
• Serve as a key contributor to the global BlackLine implementation and related systems initiatives
• Lead continuous improvement of accounting policies, internal controls, and financial disclosures
• Deliver clear, data-driven financial analysis and insights to leadership
• Maintain and monitor a strong internal control environment, identifying and resolving deficiencies as needed
• Support internal and external audits and ensure readiness throughout the year
• Collaborate across teams to ensure accounting and reporting requirements are met through system integrations
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous learning
• Serve as a key stakeholder in transformation, process optimization, and change management efforts
• Champion department-wide goals and strategic initiatives
• Create and deliver training content for both accounting and cross-functional stakeholders

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required (active license preferred)
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
• Experience must include both public accounting and public company environments; Big 4 strongly preferred
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX, and internal controls
• Proven experience in leading technical accounting reviews related to ASC 606.
• Proven track record of success in dynamic or transitional settings
• Demonstrated ability to scale accounting operations through process improvement and automation
• Strong leadership skills with experience developing and empowering team members
• Proficiency with Power BI, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, and BlackLine is a strong plus
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex financial concepts with clarity
• A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with the ability to drive change and deliver results

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $175,000.
 
This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
