Position Summary:

The Sr. Developer is responsible for the for creating and designing software applications and systems to support business functions and client requirements. The Sr. Developer analyzes specifications to build efficient applications, conduct multiple quality testing, and enhance the user's interface.  


Essential Functions & Additional Responsibilities:

  • Works with Product Manager(s), Business Analysts, and CTO to translate product vision, road map, and desired features into appropriate epics, stories, and features in the dev. Backlog
  • Will have the opportunity to serve as an Architect for some projects and applications
  • Leads the development practice in modeling business objects, relationships, and data structures, both persistent and transient
  • Is the principal developer on major new features across the product suite
  • Coaches and mentors junior developers in best practices, design patterns, and analysis and coding techniques
  • Develops coding standards for the development practice
  • Leads code reviews
  • Assesses and maintains 3rd-party and open-source software libraries, frameworks, utilities, and other tools for incorporation into custom software products
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation for all elements of the SDLC and custom software components
  • Implements and refines agile techniques across the practice, including automated deployment, testing, and code-scanning tools; continuous integration
  • Partners closely with 3rd party development to bring knowledge and development back in-house
  • Assists the CTO in assessing SaaS tools and partners
Requirements

Required Skills & Competencies: 

  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiar with a variety of programming languages, codes, and processes
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills and be able to assess quickly complex programming applications
  • Strong ability to analyze business problems and synthesize robust and appropriate technical solutions
  • Flexibility and demonstrated ability and comfort in refactoring code to iterate towards better solutions under conditions of:
  • Uncertain information
  • Rapid marketing of new products
  • Partnership with business colleagues in seizing opportunities 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years experience with modern software development tools and approaches, including:
  • MVC web development
  • Single-page web application development
  • Structured/schema database development
  • Unstructured/schemaless database development
  • Agile SDLC approaches
  • Configurable implementations of business logic
  • Experience leading development teams
  • Nice to have: Experience with implementing and designing AI tools 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Position Type/Expected hours of Work:

  • Full Time/ 40 hours per week

Location:

  • Remote 
  • Limited travel required to attend company/department meeting 1-2 times per year
