AE Design Manager

Purpose of position:

Manages and coordinates telecom related design, development, and enhancement of new and existing projects.  Evaluates design feasibility and design optimization, while also providing critical quality control services.  Ensures team meets project milestones and completes projects within established timeline and budget.  Evaluates issues, provides resolution, and communicates to management.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Review current workload with PMs and assign projects to drafters.
• Review what deliverables are due and ensure they are completed.
• Review drawings and return redlines to designers as required.
• Review ancillary project related reviews (structural, electrical, technical, EOR/stamping) due and ensure follow-ups are made to ensure these are completed on time.
• Work with drafters, project managers, and sub-contractors to answer project related questions.
• Document discussions, calls, meetings, and other information sharing sessions.
• Keep an organized daily schedule to achieve all the above tasks with minimal interruption and deviation.
• Utilize the department project tracker for logging notes and direction from meetings with PMs and other department personnel.  
• Work proactively to promote teamwork within all levels of the organization.
• Actively assist in continuous improvement activities and offer positive suggestions for improvements and innovations.
• Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, and instructions.
• Dotted line to drafting staff and schedule/track work progress.

Project review responsibilities:

• Review ALL available documentation including photos, site sketches, existing drawings, existing designs, RFDS, specs, etc. and gain an understanding of the project's SOW before review begins.  
• Typically, role will be overseen macro wireless cell tower designs and basic utility designs, power and fiber.

• Experience explaining complex design issues directly to the customer
• Ability to travel as required
• Expert level experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and digital photographs.
• A design background in AutoCAD required
• 5-7 years experience designing and managing telecom/wireless architecture and engineering solutions
• 1-3 years experience with direct customer interaction
