Job description

As a Principal Quality Assurance Engineer you will own the QA process for your teams or products. You will work with software engineers, content developers, artists, producers, project managers, and product leadership to create value for Players around the world. You will be guided by Riot's Test Policy to develop quality activities for every stage of the software development life cycle. Additionally, you will partner with your teams and other craft leaders to arrive at more efficient solutions to everyday problems and improve delivery. You will also be tasked to work with other QA professionals, often remotely to get your work completed.

As the Principal QA Engineer and QA Product Craft Lead for TeamFight Tactics, you will serve as the senior-most QA craft expert responsible for shaping how quality is defined, built, and validated across the product. You'll operationalize the product-wide quality strategy in partnership with the Product Quality Lead, translating strategic goals into actionable practices and systems. You'll collaborate with leaders across operations, delivery, tech, creative, and design to assess quality risks and drive targeted improvements.

You will lead Initiative Quality Leads, ensuring consistency and evolution of QA practices across the product. You’ll develop scalable quality standards and guidelines that are measurable, adaptable, and integrated across teams. You feel equally comfortable discussing design intent or evaluating delivery velocity and tooling. You’ll work cross-functionally to embed quality into every phase of development. You’ll also partner with central QA teams to align on global standards, tools, and frameworks, adapting them to meet product-specific needs.

Responsibilities: 

  • Making decisions that impact actions or projects at the business unit and/or department level. This work may have global reach; and you are considered an integral part of an organization's leadership team.
  • Solving significant and unique problems that require an ability to evaluate, scope and execute on solutions that may be a team or initiative wide effort.
  • Direct individual contributors or even small teams on specific work projects. You can be held accountable for the success of others.
  • Direct others & independently determines methods and procedures for key initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of Software Quality Assurance Experience, with multiple proven product successes.
  • 8 years of Experience defining and implementing test approaches as part of an overall test strategy.
  • 5 years of Experience coaching QA team members on test design, planning and execution.
  • 5 years of Experience driving continuous improvement processes within a team.
  • 5 years of Experience tasking remote teams and providing feedback on effectiveness.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Development experience across several platforms; mobile, console, and PC.
  • Preferred Licenses/certifications:
    • ISTQB Foundation Level
    • ISTQB Agile Tester or ICAgile Agile Testing (ICP-TST)
    • ISTQB Expert Level
    • ISTQB Advanced Test Manager
    • ICAgile Test Expert (ICE-AT)
