Web Designer Job Description

Who are we?

We’re vSplash. For 25 years, we’ve helped small businesses look bigger, better, and bolder online. Want to shape the web at scale? Join us.

What is this job all about?

Picture this: Your designs help hundreds of U.S. small businesses stand out in a crowded digital world.

As a Web Designer at vSplash, you’ll design user-friendly, on-brand, and visually stunning websites—fast. We build over 1,500 websites a month, and you’ll be a key player in turning client briefs into intuitive, conversion-friendly layouts using Figma.

Your work will shape how businesses are perceived online—whether it's a dentist in Dallas or a boutique in Brooklyn.

What will thrive here?

If you:

  • Love designing websites that balance beauty and usability,
  • Think in layouts, flows, and pixels,
  • Can quickly switch between industries and brand styles (think law firms one hour, yoga studios the next),
  • Have a strong grip on Figma, Auto Layouts, and rapid prototyping,
  • Care deeply about user experience, accessibility, and design consistency,
  • Are quick, meticulous, and thrive on feedback and iteration…

Then this is your space to shine.

What do we provide for every project?

For every website or landing page, you’ll receive:

  • A clear client brief (sometimes simple, sometimes detailed),
  • Reference websites or style inspirations,
  • Brand colors, logos, and guidelines (when available),
  • Access to Figma, Canva, and curated design assets,
  • Feedback from experienced reviewers,
  • Real-time collaboration with project managers and integrators.

What will you actually do?

You’ll:

  • Design engaging, modern, and intuitive websites for small businesses across various industries,
  • Work in Figma to create wireframes, mockups, components, and prototypes,
  • Use layout principles, color theory, and typography to ensure every site is visually consistent and brand-aligned,
  • Translate business needs into functional layouts that make sense to real users,
  • Hit high-volume targets (~100 designs/month) without compromising quality,
  • Apply your knowledge of the U.S. digital market to keep designs locally relevant,
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders, adapting quickly to feedback and changes.

What skills do you need?

You’ll stand out if you:

  • Have 3+ years of hands-on web design experience,
  • Know Figma like the back of your hand—including Auto Layout, components, and prototyping,
  • Can showcase a portfolio of 20–25 clean, high-conversion websites,
  • Have solid knowledge of U.S. design trends and business website expectations,
  • Understand the nuances of responsive, mobile-first design,
  • Can explain your design decisions and adapt to constructive critique,
  • Manage time well in a high-output environment without compromising detail.

What mindset fits best?

·       Speed with Precision: You’re fast, but never sloppy. Quality and output both matter to you.

·       Business Lens: You think like a small business owner—what would they want their website to say?

·       Curious & Current: You stay updated on web design trends, UX standards, and user expectations.

·       Feedback-Positive: You love learning from critiques and growing your craft continuously.

·       Ownership First: You take pride in every layout, every pixel, and every design choice you make.

What is non-negotiable?

  • Deadlines Matter: Designs must meet quality and timeline benchmarks—every time.
  • Brand Respect: Every site must reflect the client's voice, identity, and goals.
  • Originality Only: No shortcuts, no copying—your creativity must be 100% yours.
  • U.S. Market Focus: Every design must feel familiar and intuitive to an American user base.
  • Design Integrity: Accessibility, consistency.
