Description:

Under general direction from the Chief of Staff, the Accounting Manager manages accounting activities for the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Recommends best practices for budget, AP, AR, accounting, and grant management. Supervises and supports part-time Senior Administrative Coordinator. Acts as a liaison with Jefferson and Gilpin Counties. Verifies and validates financial and regulatory reports. Ensures compliance with grant and audit requirements.

SCHEDULE:

This position is hybrid; remote work allowed once trained with in-office work as needed.  

COMPENSATION:

Target Hiring Range: $81,123.68 – $129,797.88 USD Annual
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Manages the Gilpin and Jefferson County budgets, office checking accounts, Department of Local Affairs Reports, grant reporting, equitable sharing reporting, mandated costs reimbursements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, contracts, and VALE/CVC billing.
  • Responsible for strategic management of office budget to maximize options for the District Attorney, produce budget projections, and advocate for the office.
  • Supervises the work of the part-time Senior Administrative Coordinator in the processing of accounts payable, timecards, payroll, travel, and the maintenance of employee files. Conducts an annual performance evaluation and communicates short- and long-term goals and objectives.
  • Encumbers and tracks approvals for training and various purchases. Recommends and develops fiscal procedures and researches software systems. Submits reports as required by federal, state, grant, judicial, and municipal entities. Ensures adherence to established policies, procedures and standards as approved by the District Attorney. Proposes and implements improvements. Communicates changes in policy and procedures. Verifies and reviews general ledger. Oversees adjusting journal entries.
  • Provides backup to Chief of Staff on Human Resources issues.
  • Solicits and reports grant financial data quarterly and annually.
  • Oversees accurate employee reimbursements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, economics, business, or other applicable field, and 3 years of work-related experience. Position allows for an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
