Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity?  We are looking for a Project Controls Coordinator to join our team on a temporary basis. Come join our team during this exciting time!

What You Will Do

 

  • In this position, you will be reporting to the Head, Vehicle Programs, and play a key part in managing and supporting a ide range of capital and operating projects.
  • Your main focus will be on budgeting, cost control, risk management and scheduling to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • You will be responsible for supporting various planning, monitoring and reporting of project costs, risks, and schedules for multi-million-dollar capital and operating budgets.
  • You will prepare budgets, develop cost estimates, and forecast future spending, including cash flow estimates.
  • You will identify and monitor project risks and help to minimize potential impacts.
  • You will also provide input in the development of departmental policies, procedures and progress standards for project planning, cost, risk and schedule control.
  • In addition, you will provide project cost, risk and schedule information to the Senior Staff members on a regular basis.
  • You will ensure the timely reporting of project/program costs, risks and schedule performance to facilitate effective decision-making.
  • You will prepare and ensure applicable inputs for project cost/financial data, budget forecasts, schedules, and contract management documentation.
  • You will review and validate all work requests ensuring conformity to project work plans and budgets.
  • You will develop and assemble monthly reports, comparing current actual costs with budget costs, comparing current progress with work plan schedules, co-ordinating the investigation and explanation of variances, and forecasting significant variances and trends through monthly Project Status Reports (PSR) and Departmental Progress Reports (DPR).
  • You will perform communication and liaison with consultants, contractors and internal teams to resolve issues relating to project controls reporting, and to ensure consistent alignment of project data
  • You will create and maintain assets inventory list and reporting on a monthly basis.

What Qualifications Do You Bring

 

  • Your educational background will consist of completion of a university degree or college diploma in Business Administration, Math, Accounting, Environmental Studies or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in cost and scheduling control for large multi-disciplined capital and operating projects, including familiarity with maintenance systems. 
  • Certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Cost Professional (CCP), Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP), Project Risk Management Professional (PRMP), Innovation Management, or Design Thinking are considered strong assets.
  • Your application will entail extensive knowledge of cost controls, risk management and scheduling techniques.
  • Proficiency in computer based scheduling systems and other computerized applications related to the work (examples include MS Project Online, JIRA, Kanban Boards, Maximo, Primavera, MS Office etc.) is required.
  • Your application will demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of standard accounting principles, capital and operating budgets preparation and project appraisal principles.
  • Your application will also reveal solid grasp of project management systems, tools, and best practices related to project controls. 
  • You must also possess sound judgement; proven analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written and communication skills.
  • Your application will also demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize conflicting demands.
  • Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn the TTC’s budgeting process, procedures and financial systems.
