Job description

The Company
Cerbo is a high-growth healthcare SaaS company, doing our part in the medical market to support holistic lifestyles and personalized medicine. Our software – Cerbo EHR – is a cloud-based electronic health records (EHR) and patient portal software system. Healthcare offices across the country – and some around the world – use Cerbo for almost everything they do in their day-to-day. Cerbo originally started as a developer’s nights-and-weekends project. And has grown into one of the leading EHR systems for functional or “root cause” medicine and membership- or cash-based clinics. Because of our unique origins, we often approach things a bit differently. That is, success for us is not just about the bottom line. It’s more about providing a great product, operating with integrity, and supporting our clients and our team. During the past four years our team has grown, and thousands of practitioners and patients use our product. To this end, we’re looking for an Accounting Manager to join our growing team.

What You’ll Do
As our Accounting Manager, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of our financial operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll oversee our outsourced bookkeeping team, manage core accounting functions, and support strategic financial initiatives. You’ll be hands-on with everything from GL reviews and reconciliations to financial reporting and audit prep, while also helping us evolve our systems as we scale. This is a fully remote position, ideal for a self-starter who thrives in an evolving SaaS environment and takes pride in operational excellence.

Objectives of this Role

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial closes and reporting packages.
  • Maintain a clean and audit-ready general ledger through diligent oversight and review.
  • Support the CFO with financial modeling, budget reconciliations, ad hoc analysis, and strategic reporting.
  • Drive process improvements and system transitions as we scale beyond QuickBooks and other operating systems.
  • Serve as the go-to expert for accounting operations, ensuring deadline compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across AP, AR, and tax reporting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review the work of the outsourced bookkeeping team, including GL entries, cash reconciliations, and sales tax filings.
  • Produce monthly financial statements and management reports; update the operating financial model and create ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Manage accounts payable: review invoices, ensure proper coding and approvals, manage vendor setup, tax forms, and payment processing.
  • Manage accounts receivable: collaborate with the billing team on monthly recurring subscription billing, credit memos, ad hoc invoicing, and collections; ensure accurate product setups and integration with the accounting system and GL.
  • Lead data provisions for annual audits and tax preparation, coordinating with external public accounting firms.
  • Support upcoming transitions to new accounting operation platforms, contributing to system selection, data migration, and process redesign.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a SaaS environment, including the full range of accounting operations; AR, AP, Revenue, Expenses, Payroll, Accruals, Prepaids, Financial Statement Creation, etc.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with recurring monthly subscription billing, sales tax reporting, and the related platforms (Chargeover, Avalara or similar).
  • Experience with AP platforms like Bill.com and CRM systems such as HubSpot or Salesforce.
  • Demonstrated success working remotely with minimal oversight; highly organized, detail-oriented, and prompt.
  • Great communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Preferred: CMA certification or public accounting experience.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting transitions to new accounting or ERP systems.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation based on experience

  • Comprehensive health, dental and vision benefits

  • 401 (k) plan with matching company contribution

  • Short-term disability & long-term disability insurance

  • Paid Time Off and company holidays

  • Full suite of remote working tools and processes

Location: 100% Remote

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
