Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated UX Designer with an interest in quantitative finance to join the SS&C AI PLatform Development team to help design and implement a set of new web UIs using React/Redux. The UIs are part of a wider initiative to develop an innovative cloud native platform providing financial risk analytics to banks, asset managers, insurance companies and hedge funds

Primary Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for User Interface design.  As part of our AI PLatform team, you will be involved in the complete life cycle of our software with strong emphasis on product design, ensuring that client requirements are understood and developed into sustainable product features.  You will be working with a multi-disciplinary team of developers, software development engineers as well as product managers to research and design enhancements to our suite of risk measurement and investment support tools.

Responsibilities

• Gather requirements while incorporating input from multiple stakeholders.

• Review requirements specifications and provide effective guidance to the product development team

• Perform task analysis, flow charts, and heuristic evaluations

• Create wire-frames, storyboards, use case scenarios, usability design specifications, and design prototypes

• Focus on very detailed interaction design, working from the higher-level architecture artifacts

• Design the actual user interface including screen layout, widgets, and interactions

• Design and specify user interfaces using iterative design techniques and through the application of information architecture design, interaction design, cognitive design and human computer interaction design principles

• Provide leadership to inform and influence product design

• Experience with visual design - graphics, colours, style, transitions, and layouts that support interaction architecture and design

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience

• A diploma or degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, etc.) in Professional Arts, Interdisciplinary Design, Computer Science (Human Computer Interaction), Interaction Design, Digital Media or any related field, with relevant experiences and portfolios

• 2+ years of experience
   

Competencies and Skills

• Experience with Design Thinking and a demonstrable history of applying its tenets & principles
• Knowledge of UCD principles and methodology
• Skilled at communicating conceptual ideas and design rationale within the UCD process
• Self-motivated to prioritize and manage workload and meet critical project milestones
• Experience Figma for wire framing and prototyping
• Some exposure to CSS, HTML and/or JavaScript, and frameworks like Storybook.js
• Demonstrated interest in tangential fields like: Agile methodologies, Lean UX, design research, big data, data visualization, fine art, writing and communications
