The client works with Canadas top growth-stage companies across biotech, clean tech, deep tech, and advanced manufacturing.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant with deep expertise in grant writing to lead complex funding strategies for high-growth, R&D-intensive clients. This role is ideal for a CPA (or equivalent) who has successfully navigated SR&ED, IRAP, SDTC, and other major Canadian programsnot just by preparing claims, but by crafting them strategically to maximize funding. Youll work alongside founders, CFOs, and engineers to convert innovation into capital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead SR&ED, IRAP, and multi-program grant strategies from financial and technical perspectives

  • Translate financial models, R&D budgets, and technical data into persuasive, eligible applications

  • Structure and sequence federal and provincial programs for optimal capital efficiency

  • Prepare defensible documentation for audits and compliance reviews

  • Advise clients during onboarding, claim cycles, and post-award processes

  • Maintain accurate internal tracking of timelines, applications, and success metrics

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • 5+ years of experience in Canadian innovation funding, preferably as a CPA or SR&ED-focused accountant

  • Demonstrated success securing funding across SR&ED, IRAP, SDTC, Mitacs, and other innovation programs

  • Exceptional written and financial communication skills

  • Able to liaise with both executive leadership and technical R&D teams

  • Experienced working autonomously with high-performing clients in fast-paced environments

  • Bonus: Experience at a grant consultancy, SR&ED boutique, or advisory firm
