ABOUT THE ROLE

The Multimedia Design Coordinator’s primary role is to create and manage web, digital, print and conceptual designs for our branding and marketing needs as we acquire, engage, and convert leads into students and the future change-makers tackling Africa’s biggest challenges and seizing its biggest opportunities.

As a Multimedia Designer at ALU, you should be a creative and communicative multitasker with exceptional project and time management skills. You should also have extensive knowledge of multimedia design, styles, techniques and tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Brand identity custodian ensuring brand consistency throughout various design projects
• Plan, conceptualise and implement all creative executions needed to support brand and marketing initiatives
• Troubleshooting and addressing design challenges as they arise within ALU. 
• Video and motion graphics content creation
• Coordinating with outside agencies, art services, web designers, marketing, printers, and colleagues as necessary.
• Keeping up-to-date with new industry trends and developments.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all young persons and vulnerable adults with whom we deal,  by adhering to ALU’s comprehensive safeguarding policy, maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to any violations of safeguarding standards. 

REQUIREMENTS 

The basics

• 3+ years of experience working as an in-house graphic designer, web designer, UI/UX Developer or within an advertising or design agency
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field.
• Portfolio with design projects in various fields
• Working experience with image design tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite & Canva).
• Good understanding of marketing, production, website design, corporate identity, advertisements, and multimedia design

• Working well under pressure and is capable of remaining focused despite rapidly changing priorities and competing deadlines
• Able to analyze project requirements and provide accurate turnaround timelines, manages time well and thrives with autonomy
• Knowledge about paid social media
• Advertising agency and development communications experience is preferred.
