PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Implementation Consultant is responsible for reviewing and explaining plan designs and features to new plan sponsors and ensures the accuracy and completeness of the plan information. The Implementation Consultant also works closely with the sales team, the document team, the implementation team, and the ongoing service teams to provide technical guidance and support throughout the implementation process. The Implementation Consultant stays updated on the latest regulations and best practices related to retirement plan design and administration and acts as a subject matter expert on the New Business Implementation team. 


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare illustrations for Defined Contribution plans providing clarity to any compliance issues that may need more insight and how the plan rules will impact their plan. 
  • Work together with the Sales and Defined Benefit/Cash Balance team to get illustrations for cash balance plans and clarify outcomes to the plan sponsors, as required. 
  • Verify client/plan information from sales to ensure completeness before advancing to the new business and document teams. 
  • Coordinate plan design and review calls with new clients ensuring that plan rules, features and regulations are effectively communicated to new plan sponsors.
  • Assist the implementation specialist with the document delivery ensuring that plan sponsors understand plan document provisions. 
  • Communicate with the plan sponsor, advisor, CPA, and sales rep throughout the implementation process regarding any compliance related items that surface. 
  • Review all required and missing data prior to Plan transitioning out of Implementation and provide appropriate overview and guidance to ongoing Plan Consultant. 
  • Represent as a technical resource and subject matter expert on the implementation team and provide guidance and support to the other team members. 
  • Stay updated on the latest regulations and best practices related to retirement plan design and administration. 
  • Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for the new plan sponsors and participants. 


Requirements

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills 
  • Demonstrate ability to manage a high volume of concurrent projects. 
  • Display keen attention to detail for accurate implementation on Definiti and partner platforms. 
  • Demonstrate sound judgment when making decisions and operate with discretion and integrity. 
  • Ability to assess issues as they arise, maintain composure under pressure, and develop thoughtful and appropriate responses. 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of compliance and full cycle annual administration experience required. 
  • Experience in high-touch, direct client service 
  • Experience with retirement plan implementation or conversion experience preferred. 
  • Experience with Pension Pro and/or ASC a plus 
  • Basic MS skills include Outlook, Word, and Excel required. 
  • ASPPA, NIPA or CEBS credentials or equivalents preferred.

We utilize many Microsoft Teams features (such as Channels and file storage) for announcements, relevant conversations, and file sharing. Familiarity with Microsoft Teams is a plus
  • Accustomed with file-storage and file-sharing tools such as Microsoft SharePoint
