Job description

We are currently seeking a talented, enthusiastic Tax Senior Associate to join our Tax Transaction team.

Our Tax Transaction department focuses on businesses owned by private equity groups/investors. Working primarily with partnership returns with complex and interesting business transactions, equity structures, and multi-state filings.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare more advanced tax computations, workpapers, and tax entries  
  • Assist with preparation of partnership allocations, and maintenance of capital accounts on a §704(b) and “inside” tax basis 
  • Assist with preparation of ASC 740 accounting for income tax provisions 
  • Prepare more complex income tax returns (partnership, multistate, corporate, and other)  
  • Review more basic tax returns (partnership, multistate, corporate and other)  
  • Assist with year-end planning and quarterly tax estimates  
  • Prepare IRS or State Taxing Authority notice responses  
  • Organize and coordinate clients’ income tax data for accurate and timely completion  
  • Review and assist in researching technical issues  
  • Prepare client communications   
  • Identify and communicate tax planning ideas with reviewer/Partner  
  • Demonstrate competency with necessary software 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting and/or 150 credit hours
  • 2+ years of Public Accounting or general accounting experience  
  • Tax preparation experience (Individual and/or Business)  
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in various accounting and other software, including Microsoft Office Suite  
  • Experience with preparing partnership allocations in tax software 
  • Knowledge of Internal Revenue Code, tax law, and tax processes  
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and knowledge of review, compilation, and auditing standards  
  • Ability to creatively solve problems and analyze client data  
  • Ability to delegate, supervise, and review work of less experienced staff  
  • Ability to be flexible to changing circumstances and client needs  
  • Strong attention to detail  
  • Ability to apply accounting concepts and theory  
  • Ability to learn new processes and information quickly  
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality

Preferred 

  • Recent Public Accounting experience  
  • CPA licensure or actively working towards it  
  • Familiarity with partnership tax matters (Operating agreements, §704(b) capital accounts, and §704(c) Principles) 
  • Familiarity with ASC740 accounting for income tax provisions 
  • Working knowledge of accounting software programs: ProSystemsFx Tax, CaseWare, BNA Fixed Assets, BNA Income Tax Planner, XCM, Maconomy, and QuickBooks specifically  
  • Tax review experience (Individual and/or Business)  

The annual salary range for this position is: $72,000 - $102,000. This salary range reflects the anticipated responsibilities and qualifications of a successful candidate for this role. Final compensation may vary depending upon an individual’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Individuals may be eligible for additional compensation in the form of incentives, commissions, profit sharing, and more, depending on the role.
