We have an exciting opportunity in the CEO’s office. We are currently hiring a Senior Policy and Planning Advisor.

 

What You Will Do

 

You will be responsible for providing analysis and recommendations to the Manager, Corporate Policy and Planning, and leading complex projects and priority initiatives within your assigned area. As the Senior Policy and Planning Advisor you will support the CEO’s office to drive key priorities from the Corporate Plan, providing advice and recommendations to senior management and support in developing and implementing corporate wide plans and strategies.  

 

You will lead the development and management of assigned projects related to corporate policy and planning, in order to advance the strategic priorities of the TTC as outlined in the Corporate Plan. This will also include facilitating the implementation of the TTC’s Corporate Plan through the annual business planning process and management of internal corporate governance structures and processes.

 

You will facilitate and enable collaborative relationships with multiple departments across the organization to advance the TTC’s corporate goals and objectives. This includes the delivery of complex projects and initiatives with multidisciplinary staff teams, while participating in the coordination and management of effective governance and decision-making structures (i.e. TTC’s governance structure, steering committees, program committees, etc.) and processes involving senior staff from across the organization.

 

Your role will require you to provide recommendations to the manager on the strategic policy alignment between different TTC groups, including representing the CEO’s Office at key internal stakeholder meetings. In addition, you will be leading the preparation of competitive procurement documents (RFQ, RFP), and the management of external consultants on corporate projects and initiatives.
You will manage and maintain a thorough and continuous awareness of TTC’s priority initiatives to inform decision making, policy development, employee engagement and program/project management and reports. Additionally, you will lead employee engagement activities and facilitation sessions to promote and support awareness and adaptation of the Corporate Plan through all aspects of the TTC. 

 

As a subject matter expert in this role, you will be required to prepare briefings, presentations and speaking material for the Executive Director, Corporate Initiatives and Chief Executive Officer.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

 

  • A Post- Secondary Degree in a related discipline (i.e., Public Policy, Public Administration, Transportation Planning, Business Administration) or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset
  • Significant experience in an advisory role within a large public sector organization and extensive project management experience with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior management and the Executive on large complex projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, motivating and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder management, with ability to influence and negotiate outcomes effectively with a broad set of stakeholders.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities; proven ability to generate creative solutions to complex operational and policy problems.
  • Experience writing reports, briefings and policy papers for senior management that include strategic advice and recommendations.
  • Experience briefing senior management on a variety of topics with strong judgement for appropriate level of detail required.Significant experience managing projects/initiatives or strategic and operational reviews within a large scale public sector organization.
  • Excellent strategic, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Strong initiative with ability to work independently and lead projects and initiatives.
  • Proficiency in a variety of software packages including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, Project and Outlook.
  • Sound judgement and ability to handle matters of a sensitive nature.
  • Demonstrates political acuity and ability to work with a broad set of stakeholders with different interests.
  • Strong understanding of governance and government decision making processes.
  • Experience with different communication mediums to inform and engage a broad audience of policies, including engagement and facilitation skills.
  • Experience managing and contributing to governance processes.
