Standards & Guidelines Manager

ASIS International (ASIS) is a non-profit professional membership organization for security professionals. Our 34,000+ members work to create a safer world in which to live, work, and play by uniting security professionals globally to grow resilient communities.

Founded in 1955, ASIS has supported practitioners in protecting people, property, and information in every sector, industry, and in over 250 global chapters. From entry-level security managers to CSOs to CEOs, the ASIS community is global and diverse. We connect professionals, set standards, and offer world-class educational and career resources.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Standards & Guidelines Manager to lead the lifecycle of standards development projects—from initiation to publication—while ensuring strict compliance with ANSI Essential Requirements and ASIS procedures. You will oversee committee operations, documentation workflows, and the balloting process, while also driving quality assurance and continuous improvement aligned with evolving industry practices. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with volunteer leaders, staff, and international stakeholders in a mission-driven environment that helps shape global security standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage all phases of standards and guidelines development projects, ensuring compliance with ANSI and ASIS procedures
  • Coordinate and support committee activities, including meeting planning, documentation, workflows, and follow-ups
  • Administer ANSI audit program requirements and document retention for all standards development activities
  • Oversee the letter ballot and public review process
  • Maintain accurate membership and representation records for all technical committees and working groups
  • Support continuous improvement by monitoring industry best practices, participating in ANSI and SES working groups, and identifying areas for procedural enhancement
  • Collaborate with internal staff, volunteers, and technical editors on the publication process
  • Support the ASIS Professional Standards Board and contribute to ISO-related efforts

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years’ experience within an association, with working knowledge of ANSI and/or ISO processes is required.
  • Prefer at least 5 years of standards development experience working with ANSI and/or ISO procedures on standards maintenance and development issues and the ANSI SDO accreditation process.
  • At least 1-2 years of project management experience.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and working with volunteer committees
  • Ability to manage complex documentation workflows independently
  • Strong writing and editing skills, particularly using a standards and/or guidelines framework.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with project management tools a plus
  • Familiarity with the security industry is a plus
  • High attention to detail, deadline-driven, and comfortable working independently

Why ASIS?

At ASIS, you’ll be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team committed to professional excellence and global impact. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to high-visibility initiatives that advance ASIS’s mission and help shape best practices across the security industry.

We offer:

  • Competitive base salary
  • Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, long-term care, and FSA’s
  • A very generous 401(k) including an employer match plus an additional discretionary contribution
  • A remote (U.S. based), work-from-home environment
  • Sixteen paid holidays, ample PTO, and work-life balance
