JOB SUMMARY
The Network Test Engineer is responsible for E2E testing of Wireless Wi-Fi IP core network and engineering activities supporting other Wireless technologies.  This candidate plays a key role in evaluating and certifying Network MOPs and IGs for Core network deployments into Charter's network.  The Wi-Fi Core Network Test Engineer creates strategic test plans and perform testing to ensure quality, performance and stability of Wireless products in Charter's network ensuring the highest levels of customer and operational satisfaction.  Technologies you will be supporting include, Spine-Leaf topology networks, Wi-Fi Routers, Gateways, Access Points, Service Provider Wi-Fi, and many other new technologies developed based on standards.  You will collaborate with Network Architects and Product Development on business and technology requirements and assess vendor solutions to address the requirements and use cases.  You will work with Network Architects to create detailed test plans and certification curriculums, proof of concept, and methodologies for analysis of performance criteria.  You will also partner with technical operations staff on system design, troubleshooting, configuration and training needs. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION 
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
Participates in lab network planning, design and engineering.
Evaluates  and certifies Methods of Procedures (MOP) and Installation Guide (IG) in new network solutions, performs network problem resolution in the Lab.
Define Test cases, development test plans and documentation of technical test reports.
Test, certify and approve methods of procedure (MOP) and  Installation Guides (IG).
Implements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement 
Works on projects/ systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization
Track defects on MOPs and IG to development team through ticketing system (JIRA) and follow up for resolution for verification.
Works on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead
Mentor less experienced engineers
Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable
Know, understand and follow company policy
Perform other duties as requested by supervisor

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills / Abilities and Knowledge 
Should have excellent knowledge in IPv4, IPv6, routing, switching, various topologies,  Access points, WLAN Controllers, in-Home Router, IPv4 / IPv6, TR-069, IPSEC, QoS, 802.11.  
Excellent knowledge in routing, switching protocols. Knowledge in SNMP, RADIUS, CAPWAP, LWAP protocols is a plus. 
Experience developing test automation utilizing Python programming languages is desirable.
Must have good experience with tools like Spirent, IXIA traffic load generators for Network performance testing and analysis
Should have knowledge of various Network adjuncts and services i.e. AAA, Diameter, EAP, PDSN, LTE Data, VoLTE, GRE, Soft GRE, L2TP, CAPWEP.   
Experience using protocol communications test equipment and tools (protocol analyzers, CDMA / LTE system simulators, wifi analyzers and packet sniffers).   
Understanding and/or experience working with the following is a plus: - DLNA, UPnP, oneM2M architecture - RRC, NAS, SIP, IMS, OSGI, and DHCP.  
Must possess excellent industry knowledge and theoretical understanding of RFC standards, 802.11 specifications (a/b/g/n/ac, SISO, MIMO, MCS index). 
Experience with testing and Q/A of Layer 1 thru 7 networks
Experience writing and developing detailed test cases and test plans
Must possess expert skills and experience with server, desktop operating systems and applications (Windows, MAC, Unix, Linux other Java-Linux platforms)

Self-motivated to take ownership of assigned projects and deliverables
Experienced technical writing skills sufficient to produce test cases, test plans, design documents, and technical diagrams

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
Professional level certification or equivalent work experience
 
Related Work Experience        
5+ years of professional experience in an MSO/ISP Networking Engineering capacity
