Job Summary
The Manager of Strategy and Assurance is a people-leadership role, reporting directly to the Director of Operational Excellence, and is responsible for the quality management program, including strategy development, resource planning, oversight for the execution of the field quality assessments, and audits across the entire NiSource footprint. The manager is responsible for consistently identifying and supporting the prioritization of continuous improvement and quality review opportunities; leveraging data from the quality management audit program and other audit partners to identify areas of opportunity; formulating improvement recommendations to optimize operational processes. The Manager of Strategy and Assurance will collaborate with senior leaders and key stakeholders across NiSource to align the quality management strategy with business objectives and effectively inform leaders on identified areas of risk and opportunity in support of corrective action.


Essential Functions

  • Leads diverse team of qualified individuals with authority to hire, terminate, promote, demote, coach, develop and performance manage.
  • Supports and leads routine meetings with senior leaders and key stakeholders to inform on strategy, to discuss audit findings, and to support process improvements and corrective actions
  • Support the quality management line of defense framework to identify and remediate process gaps that pose risks that are operational, regulatory, or reputational in nature
  • Manages quality assurance initiatives and the development of accurate, well-documented strategic analysis, audit summaries, and management reports to manage and optimize operational performance
  • Leads and works with cross functional teams to develop and continuously evaluate high value quality assessments and audit plans
  • Lead communication between internal departments and external resources to collect data, analyze problems, and implement solutions
  • Identifies best practices while driving functional consistency, process standardization and operational excellence
  • Demonstrates quality and system expertise to effectively direct program deliverables and themes for the organization
  • Makes recommendations for improvement to processes, training, and gas standards based on field evaluations
  • Effectively leads compelling discussions, securing buy-in from individuals and teams
  • Leads insightful business reviews that evaluates quality management best practices, quality standards, benchmarks, and trends
  • Leads and consults on state-specific quality/compliance assessments
  • Supports information control and system enhancements

  • Required Qualifications For Position
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in strategy, planning, operations, quality or continuous improvement
  • Experience with building organizational talent and structure for strategy, planning and improvement initiatives
  • Broad experience in strategic plan development along with evaluation of impact analysis post implementation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical thinking with the understanding of how to link to strategies
  • Strong data manipulation skills and visual management
  • Effective leadership and influence skills
  • Ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of how to analyze business problems
  • Proficient in computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), plus statistical analysis and/or financial modeling as a plus
  • Self-directed
  • Strong business and/or financial acumen

  • Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
  • Master's Degree Advanced degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, Quality Management or other related
  • Related knowledge/experience in Quality Management
  • Experience in management reports at the corporate board and senior management level
  • Six Sigma and ISO 9001 certification Upon Hire

Salary Range*:

$129,500.00 - $194,300.00

*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
