Oncology Clinical Pharmacist Director

This position is responsible for the oversight and implementation of clinical pharmacy services within The US Oncology Network (The Network) practices as part of the ClinReview program. The ClinReview program works collaboratively with The Network practice(s), leadership, and McKesson teams to implement processes and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive, cost-effective pharmacy services that meet regulatory, and quality obligations. This position provides supervision and development of ClinReview Managers, develops and monitors programmatic offerings and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with ClinReview Managers and program and practice leadership, develops and implements strategies to optimize clinical efficacy, appropriate dosing, and therapeutic interchange, reimbursement, and other drug use initiatives. 
    • Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and direction to the ClinReview Managers and team, ensuring high standards of practice, programmatic excellence and compliance with regulations.
    • Collaborate with The Network practices and USON leadership to ensure that ClinReview program aligns with strategy and future initiatives.
    • Leads the development and evaluation of and monitors clinical practice metrics.
    • Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve organizational goals and improve patient care.
    • Oversee all ClinReview reporting and key performance indicator tools and development pipeline.  Report on clinical interventions and updates on key drug initiatives to key leadership team.s
    • Supervise and develop oncology clinical pharmacists in ClinReview program
    • People Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of healthcare professionals.

Minimum Requirements

  • 6+ years of practice in oncology pharmacy required;
  • 3+ years supervisory or managerial experience preferred, 1+ year required
  • Experience managing people leaders preferred
  • Current Pharmacy License (any state)

Critical Skills:

  • Experience as oncology clinical pharmacist guiding sound drug utilization strategies.
  • Experience developing and expanding clinical pharmacy services, including developing key performance indicators to measure success.
  • Maintain and contribute to reliable, resilient, transparent, collaborative, and innovative team norms and communication.
  • Strong ability to form and articulate persuasive arguments based on analysis and consensus recommendations
  • Ability to analyze clinical data, to multitask in an environment of competing and changing priorities, to translate clinical information to business-related challenges, and to work with a multidisciplinary team within a matrix organization.
  • Experience leading multi-stakeholder projects, including client or customer-facing projects with success.  Experience managing people through project management.
  • Experience preparing, supporting, and leading change within pharmacy practice and clinical workflows
  • Strong working knowledge of community oncology practices and oncology clinical pharmacy practice
  • Expert in business applications and communications through MS Office, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, video conferencing platforms.
  • Demonstrated excellence in presentation and delivery skills

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to lead a team of people leaders towards aligned strategic initiatives and programmatic goals.
  • Practice development experience with community oncology practices highly preferred
  • Understanding of managed care trends, including step edits, prior authorization workflow and value-based reimbursement models a plus
  • Success creating and managing collaborative and reporting relationships in a remote work environment across matrixed organizations.
  • Strong orientation and commitment to external and internal customer service
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, strong critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize /follow-up

Education:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
  • Post-doctorate residency training, preferred
  • Active Pharmacist License required, flexibility in gaining additional state licenses as required
  • Board Certified in Oncology (BCOP) preferred

Travel

  • Periodic travel required to client sites and internal meetings (10%)

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$152,000 - $253,400
