We are seeking a creative and strategic corporate communications professional with deep expertise in public relations, internal communications, and employer brand development to help WEKA stand out, command attention in our industry, and inspire, engage, and ignite the passion of our employees. Leading a small but mighty communications team and overseeing WEKA’s agency of record, in this critical, high-visibility role, you will develop and execute modern internal and external communications strategies, campaigns, and programs to differentiate WEKA in its market and convey what makes us special.
Responsibilities Include
You’re a skilled storyteller and savvy brand evangelist with a growth mindset. You enjoy shaping complex technical concepts into compelling stories, thought leadership, and media coverage about innovation, customer outcomes, and business value. Equally, you love to inspire and empower your colleagues to become brand evangelists and ambassadors as well.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on player-coach who leads from the trenches and is energized by mentoring and inspiring people to do their best work. You are an industry trendspotter and media whisper who can identify and capitalize on opportunities to elevate WEKA’s corporate and executive profiles, raise the bar on its media and influencer coverage, and find new and innovative ways to increase brand affinity and awareness. You also know how to develop internal communication programs and strategies that enhance employee sentiment and engagement, and are well-versed in employer brand management.
As part of WEKA’s Corporate Marketing team, this role will report directly to WEKA’s Vice President of Corporate Marketing.
Desired Qualifications
Public Relations
- Plan and execute product launches, corporate announcements, and other signature moments. Develop press releases and owned content that showcase WEKA’s technical expertise while remaining accessible to external audiences to expand our earned, owned, and paid media coverage.
- Develop media strategies that extend beyond press releases to incorporate WEKA into broader industry conversations, trends, and news stories. Create campaigns, exclusive stories, and thought-provoking content to develop pitches and stories that get people excited about what WEKA is building and how our customers are innovating with NeuralMesh.
- Cultivate relationships with journalists, analysts, and industry influencers who cover AI, data infrastructure, and enterprise tech to create a steady pipeline of coverage.
- Collaborate with product marketing and management teams to identify the human impact behind WEKA’s technology and develop messaging frameworks and POVs.
- Develop executive and subject matter expert thought leadership programs, including bylined articles, speaking engagements, and industry panel participation.
- Support the development of change management communications during periods of growth, reorganization, or strategic pivots.
- Monitor what people are saying about us and our industry, and seize opportunities to ensure WEKA is part of important conversations as well as identify competitive threats.
Internal Communications and Employer Brand Management
- Keep everyone in the company informed, engaged, and excited about where WEKA is going. Develop communication programs to keep employees connected, ensuring that both remote and in-person team members feel equally valued.
- Help leadership communicate authentically and consistently across all levels and effectively communicate changes, wins, and challenges in a way that fosters employee trust.
- Create and manage internal communication channels, including company-wide emails, newsletters, and intranet content, to facilitate effective communication throughout the organization. Oversee content development for WEKA’s quarterly All Hands and town hall presentations.
- Develop compelling employer brand materials and campaigns to enhance WEKA’s global employer brand reputation and attract a diverse talent pool to support recruiting efforts.
- Design and implement employee feedback mechanisms and communication surveys to measure engagement and effectiveness.
Team Leadership and Cross-functional Collaboration
- Lead WEKA’s internal and external communications team and establish communications best practices, processes, and workflows that can scale globally as we grow.
- Manage external PR agency relationships, coordinating media outreach, campaigns, and programs to enhance WEKA’s global coverage and elevate brand awareness. Set clear expectations and measure what's working (and what's not).
- Work closely with marketing, product, legal, HR, and executive leadership teams to ensure consistent and coordinated messaging across WEKA’s internal and external channels.
Bonus Points
- 10+ years of corporate communications experience, with a background in both external and internal communications functions, and at least three years of experience managing people.
- B2B tech experience is a must—a background working with AI, cloud, or data infrastructure companies and a combination of agency and in-house experience is highly desired.
- Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills are essential to success in this role. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to translate complex AI storage concepts into stories that resonate with WEKA’s ICPs and stakeholder audiences. Writing samples will be required.
- Equally important are strong attention to detail, effective time management, project management, and creative problem-solving skills, all of which are essential for navigating complexity and overcoming roadblocks.
- Proven track record in building media and influencer relationships and managing successful PR campaigns.
- Experience managing day-to-day operations with PR agencies and external partners, as well as proficiency with Cision Cloud, PR Newswire, and a SharePoint-based intranet.
- The successful candidate will also possess a strong executive presence, a high EQ, be team-oriented, and have a well-developed sense of humor.
