4GL Solutions is a software company that has been in business since 1984 and specializes in the development and distribution of ERP software for Steel Service Centers in North America and Internationally. The rapid growth of this company has led to several key positions opening. We are seeking bright, motivated individuals to fill these positions and become part of our team of experts.
THE POSITION
You bring deep hands‑on expertise and a knack for spotting smarter ways to run our servers, cloud, and ERP platform. Day to day, you’ll monitor internal and customer servers, manage OCI resources, and roll out ERP updates. You thrive on variety, learn fast, and inject proven ideas from past roles to refine existing procedures and introduce new ones we haven’t even imagined.
Reporting to the R&D Manager, you’ll partner with our Systems Administrator and Support team to scale the company and serve our growing customer base.
Due to the nature of this position and updating customers, after-hours support will be required based on business needs.
This is a fully remote position with optional monthly/quarterly meetings at our Markham, ON office. Applicants must be located within North America.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitoring servers (internal and customer)
Diagnosing and resolving server issues
Creating and managing Oracle cloud instances
Creating and managing Oracle cloud VPN tunnels
Performing updates of our ERP application, SM3, on customer servers
Creating documentation for internal technical procedures
Provide technical assistance for our support team (i.e. help troubleshoot customer technical issues)
Knowledge-share with other team members
Assess current procedures and suggest improvements
Drive automation of processes
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
College or University degree in an IT related field, as well as 6+ years in production Linux/cloud operations
2+ years of cloud experience (Oracle Cloud a plus)
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining RHEL 7 and 9 servers
Experience with Bash and Python scripting a plus
Skilled in producing technical documentation for internal technical procedures
Collaborative mindset, enjoy knowledge-sharing with others
Strong troubleshooting skills
Strong communication skills
Able to work in a small team
