Position Summary

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Retail Manager to lead operations at our flagship Wesser Campus near Bryson City, NC. This role is ideal for someone who loves the outdoors, excels in leadership, and is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences.
 
 As the Wesser Retail Manager, you’ll oversee multiple retail locations, manage a high-performing team, and ensure operational excellence across all aspects of the retail experience—from merchandising and inventory to guest engagement and team development.

Key Responsibilities

Financial & Operational Management

  • Oversee retail operations across the Main Campus, including the Outfitter Store, General Store, and Adventure Department retail (Deck & Photo Finish).
  • Assist in developing and managing budgets for merchandising, payroll, supplies, and revenue.
  • Support eCommerce operations in coordination with the eComm Manager.
  • Analyze sales trends, margins, and customer behavior to drive data-informed decisions.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling, POS integrity, and adherence to financial procedures.
  • Collaborate with leadership on promotions, markdowns, and pricing strategies.

Sales & Guest Experience

  • Drive sales growth and exceed KPIs through strategic planning and team motivation.
  • Foster a culture of product knowledge and guest engagement.
  • Create a welcoming, immersive shopping experience that reflects NOC’s brand and values.

Inventory & Merchandising

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the buying team for optimal product selection.
  • Ensure visual merchandising aligns with seasonal goals and brand standards.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and manage product turnover to minimize shrinkage.

Safety & Compliance

  • Uphold all company policies, safety protocols, and retail standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment.
  • Manage incident reports and emergency preparedness procedures.

Qualifications

  • Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of management experience in outdoor retail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in analyzing sales data and retail performance metrics.
  • Preferred:
  • Highly organized with excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to lead independently while fostering team collaboration.
  • Strong customer service orientation and passion for the outdoors.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $47,000–$50,000 annually, based on experience.

Bonus: Eligible for annual performance-based bonus.
