At GE Appliances, we e are looking for a strategic Senior Commodity Buyer – Electronic Components to join our Electronics Sourcing team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing electronic components, ensuring cost reductions, and maintaining a stable, effective supply chain.
As a key contributor, you will partner closely with the Senior Commodity Manager to support product development and supply continuity. This role requires expertise in value chain management, risk mitigation, strategic sourcing, and global supplier engagement. You’ll report directly to the Director of Electronics Sourcing and collaborate with cross-functional and global teams across GE Appliances and our Haier affiliates.

How You'll Create Possibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead material cost reductions through value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) in collaboration with suppliers and technology partners.
  • Own and drive annual cost negotiation processes with suppliers.
  • Execute the component commodity strategy in partnership with the Senior Commodity Manager.
  • Select and onboard suppliers that meet quality, cost, and delivery expectations for new product introductions.
  • Coordinate with global sourcing teams to strengthen supply base diversity and establish a balanced global footprint.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships that promote transparency and long-term collaboration.
  • Manage risk across the supply base and develop mitigation plans to ensure supply continuity.
  • Ensure steady component supply for Contract Manufacturers.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and implement performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing indices, and lead times to anticipate cost drivers.
  • Thrive in a dynamic environment, adapting to evolving business needs and taking on new challenges as they arise.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in supply chain, program management, commodity management, or related areas involving negotiation, supplier selection, and contract implementation.
  • Skilled in ERP systems and proficient in Excel for data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a high-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and project management abilities.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and execution.
  • Experience negotiating with global suppliers, particularly in Asia and North America.
  • Proven ability to manage international supplier relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with multicultural teams.
  • Familiarity with Part Analytics and other electronic component databases.
  • Strong understanding of electronic components, bills of materials (BOMs), and product lifecycle management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, business administration, or related field.

Additional Information

  • Travel required up to 25% (domestic and international to affiliate sites and suppliers).
  • This is a full-time onsite role based in Louisville, KY.
  • No relocation assistance is available.
