As our Senior Manager, Software Engineering, you will help lead teams of engineers that build and maintain our suite of software applications and services to meet client and business needs. Each day, you will lead teams of cross functional engineers working together to execute on our product and technical roadmap and mentor the team to grow their careers and develop the next generation of leaders at R1.
Essential Responsibilities:
Lead multiple teams in the technical development and delivery of new technologies and techniques that can improve our overall platform performance and ultimate customer experience, with crucial contribution to R1 achieving major business results.
May lead teams indirectly through managing one or more Managers of Software Engineering.
Mentor and grow leadership within your teams (technical leads, managers and potentially other senior managers).
Provide technical leadership in the evaluation, conceptualization, design, and development of major new capabilities, innovations, and longer-term strategies across multiple teams or departments.
Provide strong technical expertise in application architecture across multiple teams or departments.
Oversee the quality of the code and products throughout the entire development lifecycle.
Drive for continuous improvement in performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, usability, and availability of the platform.
Leverage agile methodology concepts for quality, delivery, and continuous improvement.
Partner with business stakeholders, product managers, and other engineering leadership to create and maintain a digital roadmap for application(s) managed by his/her team(s) and across other teams or departments.
Coach, develop, and encourage career development for engineering managers and staff.
Coordinates and delivers performance reviews.
Identifies opportunities for and implements new or improved policies and procedures across teams and departments.
Skills:
Over 7 years experience in software engineering, including at least 2-3 years in a technical management role.
Proven ability to develop and execute strategic projects.
Capability to develop technology professionals with high expectations, a collaborative style, and a focus on continuous improvement, quality, and planning.
Strong and deep skills in team leadership and building positive customer relationships.
Strong communication skills, with proven ability to present complex ideas and to document concisely.
Understanding of modern software development methodologies including version control, unit testing, and continuous deployment.
Experience with Agile delivery methodologies.
Capable of acting as a technical subject matter expert: helping fellow engineers, demonstrating technical expertise, and engaging in solving problems.
Knowledgeable of modern application and database architectures and design, and of integration approaches between multiple applications or components.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
