The Business Intelligence and Survey Analyst is responsible for university-wide survey administration and collaborates closely with the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness to design and maintain high-impact data visualization tools. This role leads survey strategy development, partners with academic and administrative stakeholders, and leverages advanced Power BI skills to deliver dashboards that inform strategic decisions. This position plays a pivotal role in advancing a data-informed institutional culture aligned with university priorities and evolving needs.

This position is a remote position. Eligible remote locations in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

The hiring range for this position is $59,500-$81,800 annually. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographical location, knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members.

TYPE OF SUPERVISION:

Receive direction from the Director, Institutional Research & Effectiveness.

  • Direction – indicates that the incumbent attains specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work. Only the final results of work done are typically reviewed. Incumbent typically develops procedures within the limits of established policy guidelines.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

University Survey Strategy and Oversight

  • Support and advance the transition of a legacy survey platform to a new enterprise survey solution, coordinating with academic, administrative, and technical stakeholders to ensure smooth migration and alignment with institutional needs
  • Lead the development, design, and execution of institutional surveys in collaboration with academic and administrative leaders
  • Maintain the university-wide survey calendar, ensuring optimal timing, coordination, and minimal survey fatigue
  • Consult with stakeholders to align survey design with strategic initiatives, operational needs, and accreditation standards
  • Implement flexible, scalable survey solutions and methodologies to meet emerging institutional needs
  • Synthesize and present survey results and outcomes, translating results into actionable insights that support decision-making at all levels

Data Visualization and Business Intelligence (Power BI)

  • Design, develop, and maintain university-wide dashboards in Power BI to enable effective decision-making across the university
  • Integrate data from multiple sources, including but not limited to the LMS, SIS, survey, and CRM platforms
  • Develop automated reporting workflows and ensure accurate data refresh and performance monitoring
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on business intelligence best practices and visualization standards
  • Train and support non-technical end users in accessing and interpreting dashboards

Collaboration and Communication

  • Partner with Academic Schools to provide survey data and business intelligence data decision support for university planning, program review, and student success initiatives
  • Partner with Information Technology to ensure data integrity, governance, and secure access protocols.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, Business Analytics, Research or related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in a higher education position working with data such as data management, complex reporting, institutional analysis, and survey research
  • Experience working with enterprise reporting tools, developing complex operational reports, and/or compliance reporting
  • Experience designing and maintaining dashboards and reports using Power BI, including data integration from multiple sources

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of business intelligence tools and data integration, particularly Power BI, and the ability to apply data governance and accessibility standards
  • Familiarity with institutional planning processes and accreditation requirements, including how survey and BI data inform strategic and operational decisions
  • Knowledge of enterprise survey platforms and methodologies, including survey design, deployment, and analysis within a higher education context
  • Strong analytical and data visualization skills, with the ability to synthesize complex survey and administrative data into clear, actionable insights
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and translate technical findings into non-technical language
  • Ability to manage multiple, high priority concurrent projects
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with various stakeholders across all levels in a remote work environment
  • Ability to anticipate and respond to emerging data needs, leveraging scalable solutions and maintaining flexibility in approach
  • Ability to adapt to evolving timelines with a solutions-focused mindset

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software:  Personal computer and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including word, excel, and outlook. SQL databases, Power Bi, Adobe Acrobat Professional, third-party survey tools, Banner, Argos.
