Job description

Job title: Senior Project Manager
Department: Project Management
Manager: Director, Project Operations

Happy Cog is looking for a highly experienced and influential Senior Project Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in shaping departmental standards and practices, working closely with the Program Managers and Director of Project Operations. You'll lead significant projects for our marquee clients, while also serving as a mentor and leader for other project managers, setting a high standard for operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Management

  • Lead complex projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they remain within scope, on time, and on budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including creative and technical resources across various locations, fostering a cohesive and high-performing environment.
  • Develop, monitor, and adjust project timelines in partnership with team members, ensuring transparent communication of changes to both the team and clients.
  • Facilitate effective project meetings, documenting and disseminating clear meeting notes.
  • Define and allocate resources effectively for new projects.
  • Ensure adherence to project management best practices across all internal and external teams.
  • Clearly communicate project timelines, including milestones, deadlines, and deliverables, to all stakeholders.

Project Execution & Control

  • Provide regular, concise status updates to management, internal teams, and clients.
  • Proactively manage project scope and identify potential risks, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team on change orders to ensure seamless transitions and client satisfaction.
  • Conduct post-project retrospectives, documenting lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support the operations department by providing necessary information for accurate client invoicing.

Mentorship & Departmental Contribution

  • Partner with Program Managers and Directors to administer and evolve departmental standards, actively seeking out new training and educational initiatives.
  • Act as a mentor to other project managers on the team, sharing advanced project management skills to empower successful planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Exhibit sound judgment, effectively delegating tasks while providing appropriate oversight.
  • Maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and calm demeanor under pressure, inspiring commitment to team and departmental goals.
  • Adapt leadership style to suit different phases of team development and individual personalities, fostering a cohesive and highly functional group.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Understanding of web technologies, including UX and digital design best practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management processes, including requirements gathering, scope definition, communication, budgeting, resource allocation, risk management, and client engagement.
  • High competency in project management software and its effective use for coordinating tasks.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly across departmental and cross-functional teams.
  • Intelligent, creative problem-solver with a demonstrated ability to assess and mitigate risk effectively.
  • Proven ability to remain composed and in control under pressure, and to de-escalate stressful situations for others.
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of coordinating multiple groups of stakeholders across various locations.
  • A strong team leader with excellent problem-solving skills that can be shared and developed within the team.
  • Ability to interact with clients in a professional, confident, and empathetic manner.
  • PMP certification and experience with content management systems (CMS) are a plus.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
