The Memphis Grizzlies are looking for a Public Safety Officer to patrol and protect the FedExForum, promote and enforce safety and security, and act as a visible deterrent against irregular activity. You will assist in 24/7 security for the arena as well as event-related security. This role rotates between multiple posts throughout the building, including, but not limited to, but not limited to, rover, top of dock, employee entrance(s), and receiving. We are seeking qualified Public Safety Officers to join our team across all shifts—first, second, and third.
In This Role You Will
Rotational Post Responsibilities
Top Of Dock
Monitor the loading dock area to ensure proper access by authorized personnel only.
Verify credentials for deliveries, vendors, and contractors.
Communicate with internal departments regarding expected shipments.
Maintain a log of vehicle entries and ensure fire lanes are clear.
Receiving
Secure the receiving area to prevent unauthorized access.
Ensure proper check-in/check-out of incoming packages and deliveries.
Escorts deliver drivers and contractors as needed.
Conduct visual inspections of incoming items for security compliance.
Rover (Roaming Officer)
Patrol the interior and exterior of the facility on foot or by vehicle.
Observe and report safety hazards, suspicious activities, or policy violations.
Assist with crowd management and guest safety during events.
Respond to incidents and emergencies following established protocols.
Employee Entrance
Serve as the first point of contact for staff and event personnel.
Verify identification and event credentials for all entering the building.
Enforce access control protocols and maintain sign-in logs.
Provide information and assistance to employees entering the arena.
Additional Responsibilities
Assist with evacuation or shelter-in-place procedures during emergencies.
Complete incidents and shift report accurately and thoroughly.
Provide exceptional customer service to guests and employees.
Attend mandatory training sessions and maintain certifications (e.g., CPR, First Aid).
Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency responders when necessary.
Operate CCTV and access control systems.
Conduct threat detection monitoring (ex. weather, social media, and open-source data).
Distribute, collect, and inventory shift equipment (ex. radios).
Participate in a variety of meetings and committees to ensure that safety and security issues are appropriately addressed.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
The Experience You Will Bring
High-School Diploma or GED.
At least one year of related security experience or equivalent military experience.
Working knowledge of security operations and/or safety practices.
Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions, under pressure.
Must be able to meet minimum requirements for the license eligibility for the State of Tennessee Private Protective Services.
Must be able to meet qualifications for license renewal under the State of Tennessee Private Protective Services every 2 years.
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical/Cognitive Requirements
With or without reasonable accommodations:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, walking, and standing.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Ability to travel throughout the facility, as required.
Must possess visual activity, i.e.: close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Ability to work in a variety of environments, including but not limited to heights, elevators, darkened arena, around crowds, loud noise, indoor/outdoor, and flashing lights.
Continuous stretching, standing and walking, including up and downstairs.
Nice To Have
Knowledge of sports and entertainment, specifically NBA basketball.
Security license.
Working knowledge of safety equipment.
