JOB TITLE: Radiography Lab Instructor

STATUS: Part-Time/Evening Program 

TYPE: On-Campus

REPORTS TO: Radiography Program Director


PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Radiography (RAD) lab faculty is to provide high-quality instruction and guidance to students in the general radiologic technology discipline. Smith Chason College faculty members play a vital role in fostering an engaging learning environment and facilitating student success. The post holder will deliver effective instruction that aligns with the approved syllabi, guidelines, and program standards while collaborating with fellow department team members. The RAD faculty is also expected to model dress, action, and communication professionalism. 


Overall, the faculty will empower students to achieve their academic goals and prepare them for a future in the medical workforce.  The faculty is pivotal in ensuring the school’s mission is fulfilled through online classroom instruction, hands-on lab instruction, and externship feedback, working closely with the program director and clinical education liaison. The faculty will be involved with curriculum development and program outcomes, contributing to the success of the program. This position is being offered as a part-time or full-time with competitive compensation. 


EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES:

  • Must have a minimum of four years of related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught and possess a related degree at least at the same level as the course the faculty member is teaching 
  •  Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration in radiography
  • Interest in Teaching Physics Preferred 
  • Radiation Safety Officer Desirable 
  • All content and supplies provided!
  • Current state of Arizona unrestricted certification in radiography Preferred 
  • Maintain an active CPR/BLS certification 
  • Possess a sound knowledge and understanding of the professional career paths and demands of employers in the field(s) in which they teach
  • Must have strong technical skills, including all computer applications, internet research, database management, and analytical skills
  • Preferred experience with Canvas or related LMS usage for instruction (assignments, quizzes, discussion boards, grade book, modules) is preferred



OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review the course syllabus and establish due dates with students on the first day of class
  • Provide instructions and demonstrations on ergonomics, anatomy, radiation protection, radiographic physics, positioning, exposure factors, and research using current references and handbooks
  • Assist students with questions about protocols, procedures, and policies, and provide constructive feedback
  • Demonstrate respect and empathy towards students, acknowledging and accommodating their diverse personal differences and educational needs
  • Maintain clean and organized labs with student assistance, preparing them for a professional environment 
  • Monitor student progress, report academic success issues, and code of conduct violations to the Program Director/DOE using the appropriate forms and procedures
  • Provide feedback on protocols and teaching materials
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Campus Director, Director of Education, and Program Director

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to stand and/or sit for prolonged periods 
  • Can independently move objects up to 25 lbs.  
  • Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, and other office machinery, and perform repetitive motions  
  • Must have sufficient hearing and speaking ability to communicate in person or on the phone/computer with others

Salary Description
