Job Title: Tutor for Home-Schooled Elementary Level Special Needs Student
Location: Carlsbad, CA - In-Home, 1:1
Hours: 3 hours/day, 5 days/ week for 4 weeks
Compensation: $34.20/hr
Job Summary:
We are seeking a patient, compassionate, and experienced tutor to support academic and developmental progress for a bright, creative child with Level 2 Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD. The ideal candidate has experience working with neurodivergent children and can tailor learning to the child’s unique strengths, communication style, and sensory needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized academic support in reading comprehension, math, and writing
Use structured, visual, and multi-sensory teaching methods suited to children with ASD
Incorporate behavioral or social skills strategies as appropriate
Create a consistent, predictable routine to support emotional regulation
Collaborate with parents, therapists, or educators (as needed) to align goals and approaches
Track and report progress regularly
Qualifications:
Prior experience working with children with ASD (Level 2 or similar needs)
Background in education, special education, child psychology, ABA, or related field
Strong communication and rapport-building skills
Reliable, punctual, and calm under pressure
- Understand how to help with tracking and sequencing
Preferred: Special education certification, ABA training, or relevant degrees
Preferred Qualities:
Familiarity with PECS, visual schedules, or sensory tools
Creative problem-solver who can adapt quickly to changing needs
Empathetic, respectful, and able to foster trust and motivation
