Position Summary
The Teacher Assistant (TA) is responsible for supporting students’ school success by working collaboratively with building educators. The ideal applicant is a highly motivated, energetic, and mission aligned individual who is interested in providing high quality and engaging care for students in a variety of settings such as the classroom, the lunchroom, recess and one on one support. This is a 10 month position that is supervised by a member of the school leadership team in partnership with the lead teacher.
Core Responsibilities
Execute small and whole group learning using required curriculum
Actively manage and engage students in a variety of settings including recess, lunch, classroom, arrival and dismissal.
Proactively support students who are struggling behaviorally using trauma-informed practices and Responsive Classroom (all staff members are given professional development around the above)
Track student progress and maintain student data
Ensure a safe, joyful, welcoming, and clean school environment
Proactively communicate and collaborate with the lead classroom teacher on best instructional practices to maximize student progress
Additional Responsibilities
Attend school-based or network-level professional development sessions as assigned by supervisor
Attend school-wide meetings
Support OST programs as assigned by supervisor
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Education And Experience
CDA, Associates or B.A./B.S. degree from accredited institution
Experience working with children
All employees must be able to provide Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114), and Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus
