Position Overview
We are seeking a mechanical/controls hybrid professional to join our team as an Area Manager in our service department. This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in either mechanical systems or controls (with a willingness to develop the other), who thrives in a dynamic environment that blends technical expertise with customer-facing project management and sales.
This is a rare opportunity to join a well-supported team where small-to-medium retrofit and repair projects are sourced directly from our existing client base. You'll be supported by our experienced internal engineering and controls teams, and collaborate with service technicians and other area managers.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management: Oversee and manage small-scale service, controls, and retrofit projects from concept through completion.
Technical Sales: Identify and develop project opportunities within our existing client base; prepare and present proposals and estimates.
Client Engagement: Act as a key point of contact for service clientsunderstanding needs, resolving issues, and building trust.
Field Support: Provide real-time technical and troubleshooting support to field service technicians, especially on hybrid mechanical/controls issues.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal engineering and controls teams to deliver successful outcomes across varied project types.
Training & Development: Participate in cross-training to build well-rounded expertise in both mechanical systems and controls.
Qualifications
Required:
8+ years of experience in mechanical systems OR building controls
Strong foundational understanding of HVAC service, repair, and retrofits
Willingness and aptitude to grow into a hybrid mechanical/controls role
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and client relationship skills
Preferred
Experience supporting or managing controls-related service projects (Client/Client)
Previous exposure to both mechanical systems and controls systems in commercial environments
Ability to interpret mechanical and controls drawings and specifications
