Department Overview

Rakuten Symphony CPaaS platform provides communication API’s to global and domestic enterprises in Japan over various channels such as SMS, Voice, Email & RCS.
We design and develop CPaaS services for enterprises. The CPaaS team is a dynamic and innovative team dedicated into providing high quality communication services to Enterprises. We are looking for a talented and experienced Sales Group Manager to lead our domestic sales team. The team focus is on selling CPaaS services to Japan domestic enterprises.

Position Details

Team Leadership & Sales Execution: Lead a team of sales managers focused on selling CPaaS solutions to local enterprises in Japan. This role requires a blend of hands-on sales, particularly with key accounts, and effective team leadership to drive success.

End-to-End Sales Cycle Management:

Oversee the entire sales cycle, from lead generation to deal closure, ensuring consistent execution and achievement of targets.

Sales Cycle Management - Leadership & Execution:
Guide the team in identifying and qualifying high-potential enterprise customers.
Develop and implement proactive lead generation strategies and initiatives, providing mentorship and resources to the team.
Participate in strategic customer meetings alongside the team, offering expertise and building key relationships.
Lead the team in analyzing customer business and technical requirements, ensuring alignment with product capabilities and timelines.
Personally spearhead negotiations and contract finalization for key accounts, while mentoring the team on effective negotiation strategies.

Upselling & Customer Lifetime Value:

Drive strategies to proactively monitor customer satisfaction and identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities to maximize customer lifetime value.

Financial Target Ownership:

Take ownership of consistently meeting or exceeding CPaaS's domestic sales quarterly financial targets.

Commercial & Legal Strategy:

Lead commercial negotiations and manage legal processes in collaboration with the company's legal team, ensuring optimal terms for the company.

Sales Planning & Execution:

Develop and execute comprehensive team sales plans, allocate customer responsibilities effectively, and ensure sales managers achieve their individual targets.

Lead Generation & Relationship Management:

Continuously drive new lead generation initiatives and cultivate strong, long-term customer relationships to ensure ongoing success and identify future opportunities.

Customer Liaison & Advocacy:

Serve as the primary point of contact between customers and the CPaaS team throughout the entire customer lifecycle and oversee meeting customer operational needs with the support and operation teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Collaborate closely with Finance, Business Operations, and Engineering departments to ensure smooth business operations and optimal customer satisfaction.

Marketing Alignment:

Work closely with the marketing team to develop and execute effective marketing tools and activities that support the team's sales efforts.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization:

Monitor customer performance (quality, costs, etc.) to ensure alignment with company targets and objectives, and implement strategies for continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum 6 years of leading sales team and experience in the enterprise communications market.

Industry Knowledge: Experience in the telecommunications, messaging, and/or SMS market is highly desirable.

Japanese Market Expertise: Proven experience in enterprise sales hands-on and as a manager in the Japanese market.

Revenue Growth & Upselling: Demonstrated track record of consistently exceeding personal and team revenue targets from assigned accounts, with a proven ability to identify and capitalize on upsell and cross-sell opportunities.

Results-Oriented: Driven to achieve quarterly and annual revenue and margin targets effectively.

Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills with a commercial mindset.

Managerial and Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a team effectively.

Language Skills: Native Japanese speaker; fluent in English. Proficiency in other languages is a plus.

Financial Acumen: Familiarity with finance and accounting procedures.

Collaboration & Relationship Management: Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders and manage customer relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

6 years and above of relevant experience, IT/Computers studies/degree is an advantage
