Penguin Random House seeks a Database Administrator to join our guild of IT database professionals, supporting multiple aspects of publishing operations, content management, and other custom systems. The Database Administrator will be responsible for supporting existing application databases and working to transition systems to a cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring security and license compliance, using CI/CD standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundational background in database management, performance, and security supporting ongoing efforts towards cloud migration. Must be a motivated, team-player with the ability to work cross functionally with a positive attitude, a self-starter with proactive thinking of solutions.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Experienced with Database Management Systems (DBMS) like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Proficient in designing and managing relational databases using SQL, including schema design, normalization, and query optimization.
- Skilled in database performance tuning, including indexing strategies, query optimization, and monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of database security practices, including user authentication, authorization, encryption, and backup strategies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize database queries and performance.
- Develop and maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions.
- Contribute to an environment of continuous improvement and innovation by working collaboratively with your peers.
- Communicate your ideas effectively to achieve the right outcome for your team and customer.

- 3+ years’ experience managing an Oracle database environment.
- 3+ years’ experience with cloud-based database solutions
- 3+ years’ experience with Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration (CI/CD) techniques
- 2+ years’ experience with database migration processes

The salary range for this position is $95K-$105K. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
