Job description

The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as the Court Improvement Program (CIP) Officer. This position is responsible for managing and executing the objectives of the Court Improvement Program, which aims to improve outcomes and reduce the time to permanency for dependent children in Nevada's court system. The CIP Officer will lead projects and initiatives aligned with the program’s strategic goals and provide subject matter expertise to commissions, committees, and councils. This position must communicate clearly and effectively with judges, court administrators, staff, contract employees, customers, and senior positions in various state and local agencies. 

This position can be located in Carson City or Las Vegas. Occasional travel throughout Nevada is required. May work occasional holidays, nights, and/or weekends. After an initial training period, there may be an opportunity for a hybrid remote/in-office schedule.

Examples of Duties

  • Conducting studies and data analysis on topics relevant to child welfare and the dependency court system.

  • Preparing and presenting detailed reports, including recommendations on policy, procedures, or program development.

  • Supporting the execution of CIP strategic plans and administering related federal grants, including the preparation of required reports.

  • Monitoring and evaluating federal and state legislation that may impact the CIP.

  • Participating in policy development and program planning to advance the goals of the CIP.

  • Supervising assigned staff and maintaining collaborative working relationships with court leadership, administrators, and partner agencies.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Law, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Experience in program management, policy analysis, or related role, with a strong background in child welfare, dependency court systems, or similar fields.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Court Improvement Program (CIP), child welfare systems, and dependency court processes.
  • Familiarity with federal and state legislation affecting dependent children and the child welfare system, as well as relevant policies and procedures.
  • Experience with data analysis, including the ability to research, compile, and interpret complex information for decision-making and reporting purposes.
  • Strong understanding of federal grants and reporting requirements, including the preparation of grant reports and strategic planning.

Effectively works remotely and manages employees from a remote location, as needed. Must have expertise in virtual meeting platforms, such as Teams. Must have the ability to work remotely via an internet network connection provided by the employee. This connection speed must be sufficient to perform all duties. A minimum of 50-100 mb download speeds are required. Higher connection speed may be required if sharing this connection with other members in an employee’s household.
