Mukuru is a fast-paced and rapidly expanding fintech business on a mission to simplify money transfers and financial access across Africa. We’re looking for a Branch Teller to be the friendly face our customers trust and rely on.

This role is about more than processing transactions — it’s about accuracy, compliance, and outstanding customer care. You’ll help customers send and receive money, detect potential risks, and ensure we remain compliant, efficient, and professional at all times.

Responsibilities
Process Transactions with Accuracy
  • Execute remittance transactions quickly and precisely using the Mukuru system.

  • Ensure documentation provided by customers is valid and fully compliant with legal and company standards.

  • Stay alert and escalate any suspicious or potentially fraudulent documents to the Branch Manager immediately.

Stay On Top of Compliance
  • Keep up to date with foreign exchange regulations and FICA requirements.

  • Perform system tests and assessments regularly — achieving 100% is a must.

  • Remain competent and current by passing all assigned tests and modules.

Take Ownership of Your Role
  • Manage your own stock and balance your float daily with precision.

  • Maintain knowledge of the Cash Stops App and ensure it is used correctly.

  • Deliver accurate information to customers, based on formal training and current company guidelines.

Deliver Exceptional Customer Service
  • Build trust and rapport with every customer.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally — both face-to-face and over the phone.

  • Represent the Mukuru brand with pride and professionalism.

Grow and Develop
  • Take charge of your own learning and development.

  • Participate in continuous training and feedback sessions.

  • Attend refresher courses and remain certified through internal Mukuru assessments.

Requirements
Education & Training
  • Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent (Essential)

  • Mukuru Forex Consultant Training Course (Essential)

  • Must remain up to date by passing regular tests and assignments (Essential)

Experience
  • Minimum 1 year in a customer service or client-facing role (Essential)

  • Cash handling experience (Desirable)

Knowledge & Skills
  • Familiarity with foreign currencies and FICA regulations

  • Experience using the Cash Stops App (Advantageous)

  • Computer literacy and telephone etiquette

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Fluent in English and at least one local language (Essential)

  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
