Job description

About the Company:

We help businesses optimize & drive profitability with accurate, tech-savvy & holistic accounting, tax & FP&A solutions.

Smart Business Concepts was founded in 2014 by a couple of expats from various "big-name" consulting & accounting firms who didn't feel like they were able to drive maximum value for their clients. To better support startups, small and mid-sized businesses, we realized we needed to start our own shop and offer up practical, honest & savvy business advisory; supported by strategic, accurate & technology-forward accounting, bookkeeping, strategy, and tax work. We take impeccable care of our clients' books, payroll, and taxes, while also helping them streamline and automate the backend of their business for optimal performance and profitability results.

Our Core Values:

  • Give a $hit – Be conscientious, thoughtful, and compassionate. Give back. Show generosity.
  • Entrepreneurial – Be creative. Be willing to take chances. Be curious. Be solutions driven. Be a strategic thinker.
  • Drive to get Better – Communicate with the team. Innovate and disrupt the status quo. Encourage healthy conflict with a purpose and be proactive.
  • Like to Win – Do whatever it takes. Have a strong work ethic. Don’t be afraid of a challenge. Remain upbeat through adversity. Be consistent.

About this Position:

As an Accounting Manager on our team, you won’t just be reviewing financials—you’ll be a strategic partner to entrepreneurs and growing businesses. This is a high-impact, client-facing role where your experience and leadership will directly shape how we deliver value. You’ll have real ownership of the work you do—from guiding clients through complex challenges to mentoring team members and improving our internal processes. You’ll collaborate closely with founders, work across a variety of industries, and play a key role in helping businesses make smart, informed decisions. If you're a CPA who enjoys the mix of technical excellence, meaningful client relationships, and space to bring ideas to the table, you’ll feel right at home here.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all client accounting activities—including bookkeeping, reporting, direct reviews, and identifying opportunities for value-added services.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of accountants to ensure accurate financials, strong communication, and consistently excellent client service.
  • Lead the onboarding process for new clients, including system setup, software integration, and a smooth transition experience.
  • Support technical accounting needs, including M&A transactions (e.g., purchase accounting), lease standards, audit preparation, and related research.
  • Manage complex accounting projects, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to meet deliverables.
  • Act as a proactive liaison with clients—gathering information, addressing challenges, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyze financial reports to ensure compliance and accuracy on a monthly basis.
  • Perform reconciliations and troubleshoot issues in client accounting systems as needed.
  • Stay on top of deadlines and juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Research and implement the latest cloud-based tools to keep our systems efficient, modern, and scalable.
  • Continuously improve internal workflows to streamline operations and enhance the overall accounting function.
